What actually annoys me is that people always leave off the word likewise. It changes the entire meaning of the statement. Judge no lest ye be judged likewise (sometimes likewise judged). The word likewise means in the same manner. In other words be sure you are judging with a proper standard. If I judge people I do not like using a different standard than people I do like, then I should be prepared to be judged the same way if people do not like me. If I hold to a standard that is just to any party regardless of my personal feelings then I will be judged the same way. (It sounds a lot like equality under the law, doesn't it.) So, my apologies to Wonder Girl and the others, once again, the Bible is not self-contradictory.

You guys crack me up----I don't know any angels. Must have moved out of my neighborhood before I moved into the city. And excuse me could that possibly be a scripture pertaining to the "hereafter" not the here and now???

I love 1 Corinthians 6:4---did you even read it??? IF THEN YOU HAVE JUDGEMENTS OF THINGS PERTAINING TO THIS LIFE---set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.....
Could they have been talking about CRIMINAL JUDGEMENTS---as in courts? Could it be that when there are "grand juries" or petit juries---could that have been the gist of the conversation. Because, remember----the CHURCH is PEOPLE not the BUILDING! Now---go and eat your lunch and come back when you are ready for more than milk. :-)

Yes, we will judge angels some day. But the purpose of "Judge not" pertains to THIS life. We are not to judge one another's lives or knowledge of God, for He will use the same methods against us when it's our turn to stand before Him. He'll wonder why we didn't "live like we said" and judge us accordingly, leaving us in a very sad state if we don't measure up.

Future tense...we shall (later) not now. The judging for now is limited to within the church.

The greater judging of the world comes after perfection of the glorified body, not as the corrupted flesh is still with us.

Luke 19:22
"His master replied, 'I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?

Romans 2:1
"You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things."

Romans 14:4
"Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand."

1 Corinthians 5:12
"What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?"

1 Cor 6
1If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints? 2Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? 3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 4Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church![a] 5I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? 6But instead, one brother goes to law against another—and this in front of unbelievers!
7The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers.

James 4:12
"There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?"

Romans 7:24
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

1 Corinthians 12:25
so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.

Ephesians 2:16
and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

Ephesians 5:29
After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church—

Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

James 3
1Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

Jude 1:9
But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

1 Cor 15:50-52
"I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed."

Daniel 7:27
27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.'

It's found in the Sermon on the Mount in the book of Matthew.

It means that we should not decide the state of a man's soul without considering his fruits and his behavior. And this also includes judging they are Christian when they are not.

I would think angels would be easier to judge, since they only took sides for or against the Lord that one time. Remember that we will be like Christ when we do this, and definitely are not now.

Judging angels is not now in the present but the future.
and the other verse is that we can judge a believer if you are a fellow believer.. one that says o yes I am a christian.. yet continues in sexual sin.. idolotry etc.
It says have nothing to do with them...basically call someone on it if they are being a fake christian.... we are not to judge unbelievers, this is not a christians job.. Being that we are unqualified to do so...
Are we perfect, 100% fair, unbaised and all knowing... I think not.
So no, you do not have a free pass to go around super imposing your judgement on everyone. Read the entire scripture....

Matthew 7:1-3 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"
