This is a serious question for the folks on the left out there: why do you support Hezbollah when they fire rockets at innocent Israeli civilians while hiding amongst their own people in civilian clothes? Both of these actions are specifically forbidden by the Geneva Conventions. So why say Hezbollah are the good guys when they do things like this?

I know I'm begging the question on this, but I couldn't think of a more neutral way to put this question.

Please note that I'm asking why you support Hezbollah, not why you support the Lebanese nor why you do not support Israel. Neither of those points are germane to this question.

Clarification: I'm asking about your support of Hezbollah, not the PLO. Issues about the West Bank having nothing to do with the question.

Because they are a legitimate resistance movement against Israel. Look at what Israel has done:

-invaded the West Bank in 1967.
-refused a UN resolution (242, passed in 1967) telling it to leave the West Bank and other occupied territories, including Shebaa Farms
-kidnapped thousands of Lebanese and Palestinian civilians and threw them in jail without a trial (currently, 10000)
-committed war crimes (demolished Arab houses to make way for Israeli settlers, cut of power and water supply to villages, targeted the civilian infrastructure in bombing raids, etc.)
-breached international law on numerous occasions

Basically, it comes down to this. Israel is illegally occupying the West Bank. It will not listen to diplomacy, as is evidence by its refusal to heed UN Resolution 242, telling it to get out. So, Hezbollah has taken it upon themselves to make Israel leave the West Bank by force. And guess who killed more civilians? Israel. It's not like Hezbollah is composed of evil baby killers -- Israel is killing more civilians than Hezbollah is -- over 10 times more, in fact. This would all be over if Israel withdrew from the territories which it is illegally occupying and complied with international law. But it's not. So Hezbollah needs to fight for justice and for their rights.

I am against Hezbollah. Hezbollah is an organization formed out of theold PLO terrorists and includes trainees from Syria and Iran. They do suicide bombings into the West Bank and Israel and continue to fire rockets into Israel. Hezbollah is an evil, terrorist organization who's days are numbered.

Nobody supports what Heabollah has done. But you can't isolate your question like that.

Israeli's are not "innocent" as you say. Many of them see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe, rather than taking a look at the realities and acknowleding the faults of their govermnent. All Israeli's are not like this. There are those who are not warmongers and who do see other solutions to securing their country.

Because unlike Israel they are a resistance movement, they are willing to exchange prisoners, they are religious people that are willing to die for their cause, they don't get paid in dollars for defending their country, they are men that defeated a country backed by the U.S with their limited arsenal and training nevertheless with a lot of faith and courage.
