When in doubt, throw them out!

Most likely you will not have any problems with them if the can is not dented or compromised in any way. But the best advice is to always throw out food if you are uncertain as to it's quality.

I look at your dilemma this way...60 cent can of beans vs. a Dr's bill for the visit to cure what may ail you.

My Advice?? Chuck the beans, take the money you would have given the Dr. to cure you, and buy a big fat Porterhouse and a pint to enjoy instead! :)

Hi Stop, dont even think about eatiing them all the preservatives that are keeping the food fresh have stopped working by the sell by date so, no it isnt save to eat them, you could be at risk from a bad case of life threataning food piosoning. I read about a familty who ate a can of beans that have gone out of date and the whole family died.Go by a new tin be on the safe side

More than likely.

I remember about 10 years ago they opened up a tin of corned beef from world war two (news report) - and it was edible, so your beans are probably safe!!

ps. As beans cost next to nothing...you might get MORE selling them on ebay as a collectors item...seriously!!

They should be OK as long as the can hasn't been damaged and air got inside it, or if the can has rusted.

If either of these has happened through it away otherwise it should be OK.

Environmental health once told me it would be OK, but I wouldn't!
