I always thought labelling someone after bacteria or other unpleasant aspects of the food chain was never much of a clever insult. After all, we're talking about some of the hardiest creatures on the planet that will be around long after we've run our course.

In Louisiana, pond scum is one of the prime ingredients in Mayhaw Jelly.

I think for fish it is.There are certain kinds of fish for aquariums that eat it especially.They are called algae eaters I think.
