I am considering different religions and think Buddhist is interesting and fits many of my beleifs. I am wondering what practicing this religion involves? Do you go to a temple? Meditate? Go to a group that practices? Or do you mainly do it alone? What do you read ?
Thanks!

Start by reviewing some of the materials at the Buddha Dharma Education Association, Inc. website: http://www.buddhanet.net

Yes, there are Buddhist temples. You can check out the World Buddhist directory on the website. If there is not a temple in your area, you should seek out a sangha.

Meditation is a critical part of Buddhist practice. You can do this individually and with the sangha.

There is much to read. The website has an extensive collection of texts to get you started. The most important is the Tipitaka - the Buddhist Canonical Scriptures of the Theravada and Mahayana schools.

One should strive to follow the teachings of the Dharma in each moment of their lives, just not when one is at temple or in meditation.

Once you have chosen a particular school, you will find that the practices may vary, but the central beliefs are pretty much the same.

It's hard to give a definitive answer to your question. There are different types of Buddhism that have their own beliefs and practices. I would suggest reading up on the three major divisions (Theravada, Mahayana, Tibetan) first. Even within Mahayana there are a number of very different traditions (Pure Land, Zen, etc). Once you determine the branch of Buddhism that fits what you are looking for, then you can look into adopting those specific practices.

In Buddhism I can see two practice methods from the little bit of knowladge I have.

1. Live Dhamma - this is basically adjusting your life according to the basic teachings
2. Practice Dhamma - this is to get involved in spiritual activities as meditation etc.

I think the best would be to follow this link - http://www.metta.lk/

Meditate, for spirtual enlightment. I think some of them use "incense sticks" and use them to pray. Try going to wikipedia.com -> English -> Search: Buddhism. Good articles, and useful links at the bottom of the page.

Wikepedia is a good starting point. I believe they are fluid in that you don't have to worship with a group, not sure though.
