Have you ever pictured yourself being in a land with no other life form except natives. and you had to cut your way through the wilderness, dig up trees, to plant your crops. isolated from the rest of the world. because we had different religious beliefs, political views. had to start your own government, elect officials just completely start over not knowing what the hell is to come. but you didnt lay down and die. you pulled yourself together and did it. when all this was accompliuhes they wanted to take it over ( england ). But we fought them and won our independance. when we stepped off the ship they didnt give a damn whether we lived or died. we overcame and in 200 years became the superpower of the world. Because we had the ancestors that didnt take no shitt from anyone. we built this country from scratch and i will be damned if i will hand our history over to illegal immigrants, terrorist whatever or whoever. if you want you will damn sure have to fight me for it. and i dont play

Certainly the United States was built and rebuilt by discontents and the adventurous, both in the original settlers (Dutch, English, French, Spanish) and in the immigrants that followed (German, Irish, Scandinavian, Portugese, Italian, Jewish). including the Africans that came over involuntarily for the most part.

One thing to think about is that the illegal immigrants making their way into the U.S. now are the same type of people that originally settled this country - people that are willing to risk everything to have a better life. I think that people that settled the original 13 colonies would find a lot more in common with today's illegal immigrants then they would with those that are already here sitting on their collective *** and watching crap reality shows on TV.

That said, I believe that our culture needs to be preserved. All previous immigrant groups worked hard to become part of the U.S. culture, learning english, working hard, etc. No handouts for them and I believe that any new immigrants should do the same. If you come here, you better learn english, get to work and forget about government support until you have paid taxes for several years.

I'm sure by now you should know that most Americans agree with you, so do I. However the media has already given this issue it's 15 minutes, that is about the limit of our attention span.
Granted this is an election year, so I'm sure it will surface again. But unless we elect people that are willing to do what is necessary to get the job done, this problem will only get worse.

You're leaving out a very important point....

We didn't fight for our independence by ourselves. We had help.

In that note, it is in our nature to try and do the same for other countries. We are "paying it forward" and all those whiney liberals out there ought to thank our troops for doing so.

Any man worth his salt after 9-11 would have had troops on the border right away.
