That is known as the BARF diet. In fact if you don't have time to make up all the food you can buy Flink River Ranch that is made with that in mind. Though you do have to order that food in so it is very fresh!
I have given my dog raw food be for and it is just fine. In fact I think it is better too.

We feed our shelter dogs a "modified raw food" diet; it's based around kibble but we also give them raw meat, eggs, veggies and fruit every other day. We'd go completely raw, but understand that most adopters don't feed their dogs this way.
The benefits of the raw food diet are many: the dog gets ALL of the nutrients, vitamins and trace minerals in the food (which they don't get from processed foods); they metabolize the food more completely (because there aren't a lot of preservatives in it) so they get more nutrition out of less food; and they also produce less waste. What fecal waste is produced is more like to biodegrade more quickly than stools forms from processed food that are high in preservatives.
As with all diets, watch our for allergic reactions and illness caused by bacteria.

I think the BARF diet really has merit, and is much more closely related to what a dog would eat in the 'real world'. Personally, I just don't have time to be always buying fresh raw meat and whatever else, so I just stick with a high quality dog food.

Be very careful about a Raw Diet. We used to feed our guys one but the owner of the food company started delegating oversight and we ended up getting food poisoning. Luckily they are okay. Now my wife cooks for them. We buy the grain and veggies from Dr. Harvey and add our own protein. You might want to try that.

The BARF diet... bones and raw food.
I feed my 2 rottweilers this for quite some time. They were both healthy and quite enjoyed it. I have to say though that it is expensive and very time consuming. Do whats best for you and your fur kids and it should work out great. Just promise not to feed them old roy or kibbles and bits. Worst dog foods ever!

My dog has a laundry list of food allergies, including chicken. I looked into a BARF diet for her, but was unable to find one that would suit her needs. The frozen ones that do not contain any of her allergens would have been cost prohibitive to ship, and the food is expensive enough as it is. They don't sell buffalo or venison at the grocery store where I live, so it is not an option for my dog.

I beleive that feedng your dog raw food is the best thing you can do...i mean, the dog loves it and it is easy to do.
Also before we had dogs as pets they ate raw food all the time out in the wild....so the "raw diet" is the best thing to do.

I have two English Mastiffs. I couldn't afford it. One must be on a low protein diet for kidney patients and raw foods would not work for him. I've read up on it, and I was never thrilled with it to be honest.
