I saw a ghost when I was living in an old cottage by the sea. When I described it people said it would have been a fisherman.

Like everyone else I've told this to, you also will not believe it.
Why I'm wasting my time to tell it again, having already explained it to a doctor and psychologists at the Paranormal Research and Investigation Division of the Government I don't know, but I saw the question and I'll tell you briefly what I saw and the profound affect it has had on my life since then.

They already told me NOT to talk to anyone about my experience but, that's ok, I need to tell someone, anyone, again. It helps me a lot just to be able to even write my story here.

I was in South Carolina in 1988. I went with a friend to Fort Sumter which is near Charleston. We had to take a boat to get there and we rented a private boat, it was like a boat taxi, from this old guy who dropped us off in an area away from where the usual visitors go.

I could give you a lot of details but I won't. The sun had just set and we were walking toward the boat docking area, maybe about a 1/4 mile away. My friend went off exploring somewhere where I couldn't see him...it was dark and the fog was getting a bit thick and I remember that it felt real wet, almost as if it were raining, but there was no rain, just the cold, wet, foggy air around me. It was pretty calm and quiet...I could hear seagulls and the sound of the water...
just then, right there in front of me about 10 feet away was this....person...or something. I could see that he had on what appeared to me to be some kind of a uniform which, I later found out by looking at some very old photographs, was a Confederate soldiers uniform. I could see his face also...he was maybe 25 years old or so. I was close enough to him to tell that he had sort of a beard or had not shaven in days. I remember that the buttons on his jacket gave off a little bit of a glare...I could see a belt buckle also. He did not look at me or act as though I was there...like he was in another dimension or something. He was kind of standing there, like he was looking around for something...like he was trying to listen for something. At about the same time, I could also hear my friend calling my name...he was behind me about 100 yards or so.

This person, the soldier, looked over in my direction, as if he saw me and then he reached up to button his jacket and he, well, he just faded away. No, he didn't walk away, he "faded" away. Yes, I know, sounds crazy, right...but, I'm describing just what I saw.

It scared the heck out of me because it was so unnatural. I started shaking and I couldn't control it. I realized that what I saw was not normal and my body started shaking even more. I suddenly felt very cold, very damp from the night and the fog...and from fear.

I finally found my friend and he asked me what happened and why I was acting like I was. I had to take a few minutes to calm down and told my friend I wanted to get out of there real quick.

We got up to the boat dock and got on the next boat back to Charleston.

I want to go back there one day...but then, even after all this time has passed, I'm really too afraid, too scared. I don't ever want to experience anything like that again..I've had dreams and nightmares since then because I can't forget what I saw...that soldier was a Civil War soldier who had died at the Battle of Fort Sumter around 1861.

The local people in Charleston that I told my story to...they believed me because they said others have also seen the ghosts of the dead soldiers on that island...but, no one outside of Charleston believes them...and no one believes me either.

Yup.

But then what is your definition of "Ghost"

The explainations are so veried, from a residential energy discharge that like the "spots" you see from a flash- they can last for years, not really aware or there but obserable under the right conditions. (Conservation of energy and all.)

Or a spirit that relives an event, with little or no interaction.

Or a disembodied entity, aware but trapped by choices.

Or an aware entity that cdhoses to exist in this way.

Or, a brain disfunction.

Or, the ability to access a higher brain funtion and see or be aware of energy/ or power/ or a spirit, that most others simply can't see.

So many choices- all or none of which work, depending on both your viewpoint and your own level of comfort. Smile.

But yes, I have not only seen several somethings that can be defined under all of the above, as well as taking several pictutres of them.

Myself- I'm a flash-bulb immage of energy sort- although...some of them were a bit more...interactive then others.

I have. It was 9 years ago. I was living in a boarding school, in the same room where a boy has died 15 years before that, falling from window. Lots of people have seen this ghost in different times and places. I saw him in my room. It was late in the evening, the light in the room was out and we were 6 people in the room, talking and laughing. I saw a black person sitting on one of the beds and I couldn't recognize him. I was just about to ask who he is when he got up from bed(he was unusually tall), crossed the room and went out through the closed door. Everybody else continued to talk and laugh and I realized I am the only one who have saw this. I told the others on the next day. Nobody were surprised. At least 15 people saw the ghost that month. They said it's repeating on every 5 years since the boy has died.

yes, i have

once i was helping my neighbors with thier lawn, which just so happens to be the old paupers graveyard where i live, and we came across a tombstone for two girls who died a long time ago. Then that night i had a dream of a girl where the clothes from around when the girls had lived chasing me with a hammer and an evil grin on her face. I know that doesnt qualify for seeing a ghost but a few days later, my neighbor, the one who's lawn i was helping with, came home to see her broken tv which was unplugged on. She quickly turned it off when she relized it wasnt plugged in. She didnt worry because she was too tired. She went to bed and that night woke suddenly for no apparent reason. She looked over her boyfriend to see the clock and right inbetween her boyfriend and the clock was the same girl i had dreamed about. The girl was just staring at her solomely. Then My friend shut her eyes tightly and when she opened them again the girl was gone.

You dont have to belive my story but it has made me believe in ghost and the supernatual.

Yes always
they come for prayer
that is the whole purpose of ghost
they are in great need
Because this had always been happening to me
I had to seek for what it was
so I located a book
by Princess Eugenie Von Der Leyen
called My Discourse with poor souls
I was able to get this English translation
small book from
Franciscan Minims
House of Atonement
Xochiquetzal 251 ( Col Santa Isabel Tola )
Deleg G. A. Madero 07010 Mexico D.F.
My mind was blown away
and further more . I began to understand much
and was able to help them
through the power of The Mass
by entering their names or discription

I had a ghost in my old house. This may sound weird but I would see it occasionally but it never bothered me. I never told anyone about it but all of my girlfriends would have chills and feel like they were being watched when they were down in the laundry room or in the pantry. When I sold my house a single woman bought it and 4 months later she commit ed suicide in the pantry. I always thought that the ghost did not like the women.

I felt some spirit grab my wrist and hold on for a few seconds. It was a horrible feeling. VERY cold - and I was frozen with fear. Then the couch I was laying on started to raise up and down a few times. I never want to experience that again.

I haven't seen a ghost, but I am very interested in them after experiencing the one above first hand. I definitely believe in them.

Maybe when I was a kid because my mom said I would often tell her that I saw someone in our house & I'd desribe how it looked like ...
At my age now, I say I'd feel the presence of it once in a while.. you know that kind o' thing, when you'd just suddenly have goosebumps?

PS: Yeah, maybe ghost is not the proper term but I believe that spirits are everywhere. They are not of dead people but from darkness. But nothing to worry, though they are permitted in the meantime, to roam & scare people, they can't harm you.

Yes, I used to live in a flat and I saw this head of an old man in the hallway...Then I asked around and when I described him I was told that he had died there some 50 years before...He was very unhappy and his name was Jonathan.

I have not only seen a ghost, but lived with one. My house was haunted when I was growing up. We had an old man there that owned the property before the house was built. He didn't like it that the house was there, and made it very well known. We finally got him to go away, but then my sister invited something else in. It was evil and we ended up having to have a bunch of men over from our church to bless the house before it would go away. I have seen ghost elsewhere also. They aren't that hard to find, if you are open to them and know how to see them.

I saw my son, who was still born. He was a spirit, not a ghost. He was happy and wanted to let me know that he was at peace and that all he needed was a body.

My great-grandmother visited me after she died. I didn't see her, but I smelled her familiar smell and that helped me get through the days.

I believe there are different kinds of spirits. There are earthbound spirits, who for some reason don't want to except or don't know they are dead. They are what people refer to as Ghosts. Then there are our dead loved ones, who are around us all the time, but don't manifest themselves much. They are spirits who are trying to comfort us. Then there are the evil souls, who's purpose is to try to get us over to their side, or to scare us into not believing what we have been taught. They are mad because they will never have bodies and like to use that to try to sway us over to their side. We are stronger then they are, so we have sway over them.

Spirits are around us all the time. Most of the time, we don't know they are there. They are mostly family members or friends that like to check in on us from time to time. They are with God, but are allowed to see what we are up to.
