It depends on where you live...
I just ate at a restaurant called Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale last weekend and it was delicious, creative food, a great atmosphere, and served by a wonderful, knowledgable staff.
My fave restaurant though was the Gargoyle in Paris (it's actually whatever gargoyle is in French)
It was a tiny little restaurant with a single chef and a single server.
EVERYTHING was incredible, and the chef kept peeking his head out to ask how we would like our food cooked!

Wo Hop's off Mott and Elizabeth in NYC. It is chinese!
and a little place on 4th street right off the alamedia de las pulgas in San mateo California. I can't remember the name of the restaurant but the region for the cuisiine is called hakka (so that might be the name?) This kind of chinese food is so amazing you'll fall in love!

It was a restaurant in Chicago, just off the Magnificent Mile. It was a steakhouse and I loved the meal I had and the service was outstanding. I tried sea bass and my husband had a horseradish crusted prime rib. I've never had a creme' brulee that was so light! It was wonderful, but it was so long ago I can't remember the name of it.

I don't know where you live, but the Cape Orient in Cape May NJ is some of the best chinese, japanese, and thai food I have ever had in my life. If you are in the area for any reason, try it. Delicious.

Hae Woon Dae or Cho Won Buffet in Atlanta. They're both Korean places and they're really good. The Cho Won Buffet has one side of the buffet all raw meat (the other side is the cooked Korean food) and you take plates of raw meat back to your table and cook it on the grill in the center of your table.
