I'm in New Jersey and I'm cat-sitting a big black cat that's jumping around everywhere in my apartment. I want to be able to work. How do I make it chill the fxxx down?

p.s. It's got everything it needs: food, water, litter, toys, blankets, fresh air, attention, etc. but it keeps bothering me.

You can't really calm a cat down, they tend to do what they want. Try giving it a catnip toy and see if he concentrates on that instead of bothering you.

Yep. Everyone is right. Cats are just that way. But please dont put the cat in cold water thats not a solution that is just mean. If you are going to be caring for this cat for more than a day or so they make some sprays to calm cats that have feline hormones in them. These help calm cats. But I must say that this may help but is not an ultimate solution for long term. Cats need to play and jump around. I say find a nice quiet place to work if kitty just doesnt stop.

You can get some Rescue Remedy from a health foods store. You shake the bottle well and apply three to four drops to the cat's fur as often per day as you have the opportunity.

This is not a drug so you use it frequently, maybe as long as the cat is with you. It will have an effect and is totally benign and cannot harm the cat.

Well if its a young cat, they tend to wind up at night. All you can do is give it plenty to play with really. I have more then one cat so they have each other to chase and leave me out of the equation...lol Maybe you can put it in a seperate spot when you need a break. I guess this is one reason some people are not "cat" people. gl

put him in the room and lock the door ,just kidding, lol,i hav3e a pain in the *** cat that does the same things but he usually strikes at night,if you just ignore him he will get tired after a while and leave yyou alone,or if he comes near you just move away from him if you show him anyattention at all he will think you want to play with him.cats have short attention spans so it wontt be long before he wants to explore something new and realizes you dont want to play with him.if worse comes to worse lock him out of the room you are in,so he cant come in,good luck with the hyper cat

Cats will do what cats will do. Is it in a new environment? Are you new to the cat? The cat is probably nervous/curious and it will take some time for him/her to calm down. You need to chill.

It probaly want to play or be petted. My cat is really crazy, but when I play withit for a half an hour, she relaxes. It also could be that it want to get something and can't, that is why it jumping around.

Cats get that way sometimes. Just ignore it. It'll calm down eventually.
