The better to maintain control over them like religion.

That didn't work out so well, then and now.

Even Lucey (Lucifer) decided enough was enough and walked off the Heavenly assembly line to go on strike, and now he has his own office building with his own employees.

Competition is good.

Because with knowledge comes accountability, and innocence is lost.

Romans 3:20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

To be innocent and to be sinless are not exactly the same thing.

James 2:10
"For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it."

Romans 4:15
"because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression."

Romans 5:12-13
"Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned— for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. "

Romans 1:20
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

the idea is the evil is going agains what god would want us to do - so by eating the fruit they committed evil and therefore became aware of the difference. If there was no evil then we wouldn't understand evil so what god wanted was not a bad thing

I'm not a christian by the way

Your question is faulty. God does want us to know the difference between good and evil. He also wanted us to make the choice between good and evil. Been that way since Lucifer (and those similar to him) chose evil, as it were.
Remember, as an example, that Judas would have been able to save his immortal soul if he had had the faith to CHOOSE to ask for forgiveness for his sin. Instead he chose suicide. Its up to you.

First off, SATAN told them that if they ate the fruit, this would happen. Secondly, It's one thing to know about evil, and it's another thing to have it inside you. When Adam and Eve ate it, they sinned against God and corrupted themselves.

It doesn't mean that exactly. What it means is that God didn't give them an evil inclination to do evil. That's how they "saw" evil. And look what happened as soon as they "opened their eyes"!

Because he wanted constant fellowship with them. God cannot fellowship with sinners. Adam and Eve were created free of sin. Jesus loves you.

They were innocent and never had seen disobedience or disobeyed God..So they didn't know what would happen ..
Like children that have never put a piece of metal in the light plug. or put their hand on a hot stove burner.. It all looks so innocent and unimportant, but it brings serious consequences..
