One day at a time is good. You will both, no doubt, have computers, so you can chat online (Yahoo or MSN) and possibly use voice and cams, too.
Don't listen to the people who say 'they never work'. There IS a chance of failure because, inevitably, both your lives are changing and you are both meeting new people and both of you are growing and maturing, so you do have to understand that it may not work - be kind to each other and let what happens happen.
Yes, it'll be quite tough - much tougher than meeting someone online and then getting together - but think of all the people in the forces posted overseas, the crews on ships and the like who are separated from their loved ones for months at a time. They manage, so you will too!

It sucks at time, but you will appreciate each other more when you are together. Be faithful does not mean that you have to stay in your room and do not talk to others. Write to her when you have a chance. I mean mails, not email. Send her a little card here and there, tell her how much you miss her smile, her touch......you will grow to love her more in each letter, and card you sent. Good luck.

Long distance relationships don't work...Trust me. Yea, you can talk on the phone and everything, but you are going to have that thought in the back of your mind, "What is she doing when I'm not there..."
Also, as I said in another answer, when you want to kiss or hug that person, you can't. When you are upset, they are not there to comfort you. Words only go so far.
If you truly want to make it work, is there a way you can see eachother every weekend or every other weekend? That might help.

Long distance relationships are hard, and most fail for one reason or another. But some people do manage to pull it off. Good luck!

Trust!...Its the only thing that we can do if we have a long distance Love...Me too. I and my bf stay far away...We have Pacific Ocean between us. But the only thing that I can do is trust him. Because you never know what is he/she doing? So, its nothing to think in the thing that you cant see it. I dont want to brake and destroy your relationship by your suspicious. Just only the distance...its enough to make you and her far away....If someone has changed...it will reveal by itself...dont be worried! @.@
SMS, instant message, letter, postcard, email, talking, chating...try to do every way that can make you feel good and make you distance shorter and shorter...It doesnt mean if you far way from each other, your realtionship will far away too. You can keep it shortly!! Just do it Man!!...Good luck to both of you!! Fight!

If you are committed to your girlfriend - and it sounds like you are -then it is up to you to make it work!
There are .lots of ways you can make the situation easier, I think, in these days of hi-tech communications. If you both have video mobiles, you could both talk and see each other as frequently as you can afford - perhaps you could get special contracts that will give you cheap or free calls to each other.
If you both have access to a computer, then perhaps you could contact each other via Skype (I have just heard about this recently) where you can ring abroad for as long as you like for free. I will look up a site for you - try this site you can download it for free:

Hope this helps:>)
