Why or why not...

No. In fact, the UV rays produced by the tanning bed may be more harmful to your skin, at that close range, and concentrated strength, than are the rays of the Sun. Did you know that recently a study was conducted, to ascertain the ADDICTIVENESS of using a tanning bed - both physical and pstchological addictiveness. It seems that during a tanning session, endorhines are produced, at an alarmingly increased rate, and that tanners experience something which can be likened to "withdrawal" if tanning suddenly STOPS. I urge you to look into this, before you injure yourself. It's NOT worth it. There are so many effective, inexpensive self-tanning products, on the market...if you want to get a little glow or shimmer, you CAN - right over the counter. Be well.

I would say as long as you go to a tanning salon that knows what they are doing, tanning in a bed is better than tanning outside. It also depends on the types of lotions that you use outside vs inside and everything else. It is very important to not push yourself and go for more than 8 minutes the first time in a bed. Gradually work yourself up to 20 minutes.

Nope. My next door neighbor was pretty hot looking for an older women. Then they bought a tanning salon. A first she looked awesome with that year round killer tan. Now she looks like the crypt keeper. Damn shame. Not to mention the risk of skin cancer.

No, it isn't safe, because any type of UV rays are damaging to your skin. If you really MUST have a tan, please look into sunless tanning lotions. There are so many available, and they will not cause skin cancer! I use the Vaseline Intensive Care lotion that has a hint of self-tanner in it...it doesn't look over-the-top, like some self-tanners.

No, the light in the tanning bed causes cancer just like the sun does.

Wear a skin protection lotion that protects against both short and long UV rays, and it should be fine. You have to see that on the label though. Tanning your skin over periods of time will eventually either get you melanoma, or skin cancer, but eventually, everyone gets cancer if they live long enough.
