If someone speaks that way to you, never throw them a bone.
Reply with a simple no and a quizzical look, and if they still continue to explain, maintain your quizzical look and respond with nothing other than oh.
If they hassle you, defer to your supervisor immediately.

During college I would do catering through the University's catering service. I will never forget the annual sport's banquet I had to work after receiving just MINUTES of sleep the night before and taking a major test.
I had the enviable task of serving the crab cakes (of which we did not have enough for each person). One especially thick-necked lad felt that his crabcake was smaller than the others and let out a heavy sigh "Is that all I get? Can you give me another?" "I'm sorry SIR, you'll have to wait until everyone else is served, unfortunately I can't give you another right now" "What? Come on! Do you know who I am?!?!"
To which I would have LOVED to reply "if you were worth a damn, you wouldn't be playing ball at THIS second rate establishment" I think I opted for the equally catty (under my breath, mind you) "sorry, I didn't get the memo" Shortly after, I enjoyed a rather sizable crabcake in the kitchen and left early on account of us being overstaffed (thank god)

Yikes! Good luck in the world full pricks. heehee.
" Do you know who I am"?
"No-and I could give a rat's a s s-now I have better things to do then sit here and listen to you blab about an image you think is real, but in fact it's just your mind playing games with you-all those years of insecurity have finally paid off-excuse me".
" Do you know who I am"?
"No-and I don't even care to know-we all have goals and dreams and if we achieve them to want respect in return for that hard work also depends on the character in which we carry ourselves-not just our hard work-no one will vouch for you-or even care who you are with that pompous attitude-no matter how great of a worker you are-if you can't carry yourself respectfully and appreciate others-you won't be respected. We're a team-and there is no I in TEAM".

Well, if they are truly powerfule and/or influential and their style and ego got them where they are, you may want to play ther game in case you need them on your side or to remember you later. It does not mean you have to like or approve of it.
Yes, I have heard many things about you!
Absolutely, and I have been intrigued, excited, motivated by your last meeting - book etc

When someone asks that question, try saying 'well yes I do, but I won't tell the police you're here.'or, 'yeah, you're the guy who is all hat and no cattle,' or 'If I tell you I will have to kill you.'Finally, you could respond, 'no, but we could check for i.d. in your wallet or read your medic alert bracelet.'Oh, by the way, do you know who I am?

How about "I do know who you are and you should know that your guys forgot to empty my trash"
Or how about "Your the guy that is on the employee termination list for next week?"
"You are the guy that got his ego stuck in the door at the last company meeting"
"Aren't you the guy that just got his car towed for parking in a VIP spot"
"Judging by your breath you must be a major butt kiss"
Don't you know who I am?!!!! "Proof that some people have to sleep around to get to the top"
"Wasn't your brother the demon in Exorcist?"
Don't you know who I am?!!!! "YEA AND IT ONLY COST ME $3 TO GET SOMEONE TO SPIT IN YOUR FOOD!"

"I have a feeling you're going to tell me." or "Maybe you should tell me."
Attitude kind of depends on what you're looking for in a response... If you act bored when you say either one, they'll get the idea you don't care who they are.

"I'm sorry - I lost all my Psychic abilities in a terrible accident when I was six"
...
I think I got that from some TV show. I have been waiting to use that line because I think it is hilarious, but no one has really given me the chance lately...

You could always say something like: I'm so sorry, I don't recognize you. Have we met before?
Whatever you do, just try to take control of the situation by turning the tables and putting the one your talking to on defense instead of offense. Just be *polite* & smile innocently.

If they're that much of an egomaniac, the best answer is a short, succinct "no," given without any trace of sarcasm or anger in your voice.
