That sure would be a good incentive to do good deeds. If we got a dollar for every good deed we did - everyone would try to do as many good deeds as they possibly could. Maybe that would be a good idea, but where would we get all of our dollars from?

My wife loves me, my grandchildren think I'm "pretty cool" (at least at the moment), and I have a healthy (but not excessive) portion of self-respect, which comes from knowing that I try diligently to live a moral and productive life. That makes me the richest man in the world, or at least rich enough. As for my good deeds--if I stopped to count them I'd miss an opportunity to do more. Let's just say that, if Santa were making a list and checking it twice, I think he'd keep me on his "gets presents this year" list.

If I got a dollar for each good deed, they wouldn't be good deeds anymore, they would be income-generating deeds. Then I'd feel the need to donate that money to charity, which would create a never-ending loop! I don't count my good deeds. I do them because they're right, not because someone's keeping score.

I make sure I do at least one good deed a day. I do a major good deed, once a week. I would have a few thousand, just over the past year.

Good deeds aren't supposed to be kept track of. They should be something that you do naturally, not for the wrong reasons.

I would be a billionaire! I am rich with the happiness of knowing I have made a difference in someone's life. Having money doesn't made me feel this way.
