Lp= long play
SP = single play
so a 1hr tape needs to run at 1/2 speed in order to get 2hrs worth of recordings onto it.

Hi,
LP = Long Play
SP = Short Play
If you want to record for a LONG time (2hrs!) then go for LONG play.
If you want to record for a SHORT time (1hr!) then go for SHORT play.
Good luck with whatever you're recording ;)
