MY thoughts of being American?

Question

I can walk outside get in my car and drive across the country. without having to show traveling papers. I can own as many automobiles i want. I can also buy as much sugar and coffee as i like. I have the right to speak my mind. I can walk without fear of being shot from around the corner. by someone thats not even from my country. I can make friends and not worry about what i tell them. Im not worried about being persecuted for my religious beliefs or political. I can eat whatever i want. I can go to school where ever i want. I love my country i will fight for it i will fight for our people . And i will do whatever i have to do. to keep any foreign or domestic terrorist from changing our way of life. in other words i love my country. the usa. Now my question is who in here is a true American. I was born here i will die here.

Oh yes! I love you! Sorry I sound gay, but really and truly I'm glad to see that there is at least someone who cares about this country. I was flat out tired of all thee anti American people screeching about the ,most dumbest things and never seeing the true beauty of this place. Never knowing that America is surely much better than where they came from most of the time. Keep writing.

It's great that you are so proud of your country. But in all honesty the wonderful things you claim make America so great are available in most civilized countries around the world. I'm pretty sure that most of Europe, Canada, and Australia could make the same claims about their respective countries.

I think that there is a danger to this level of almost blind patriotism and that is there is not enough time taken to consider how we could make America even better. Being a true America is not just blindly chanting the pledge of allegiance it is about carefully considering what is wrong and how we can make things better.

Right now we have a president who has committed this country to an unnecessary war, is responsible for the death of thousands of people and more importantly over 2,500 American soldiers. We have a health care system whereby 45 million Americans are without adequate coverage. Our infant mortality rate is not even in the top 30 countries in the world. There are 35 million Americans living below the poverty line.

I am not trying to bash America. I do love it here, but let us not lose site of our failings so that we can hold politicians accountable and make America even greater.

YES i'm so glad to see your statement. It seems like too many people here forget that they can live in America and pretty much be free. Everyone should be as loyal as you. I too woud die for my country and my way of life. Thanks for such a great look at life. I feel like i should have a parade and show people that there are still true Americans here in America :))

Is that a question, or just a lengthy rhetorical statement? A better question would have been 'what do you think the best thing is about being an american/living in america'? Part of your statement is largely true anywhere, I believe, providing you've got enough money....
