This happened to me in MA.
They gave me a receipt and told me I had 30 days to send in my payment. A whopping 30 cents ( I couldn't find my wallet). Nothing major, no ticket, no summons. Just pay them later on and they will be happy.

Depends on the state.

Some states will pull you over on a pretense that you've committed some criminal activity. They'll issue a citation for either the missing toll or the toll plus some administrative fee.

Other states have policies that allow you to slide (Dulles Toll Road, for example) if you keep paying the toll for 30 days.

They may mail the citation to the address on the registration.

If you have EZ-Pass, they'll charge your credit card.

they give you a ticket like a parking ticket but depending on where you are and who you get in the toll both it could be the amount you had to pay to pass or the amount, a late fee, and a fine but do it and tell us all

They usually send you a ticket / summons / bill in the mail. It will go to whichever address your license plate is associated with. Pay it as soon as you get it to avoid insurance and DMV problems.

Best of luck!
