1- to ask for her hand infront of her family and his family(the closest members),
2- to make a party mostly for the relatives of the bride and a little of grooms close relatives.2-3 hours
3-a partty called"henna" wich is for speciall cultural people.
4-the big day, the huge weddding party and the candels and the mens speciall dance and the wedding stays 3-4 hours .
5- a small party after wedding were the relatives of the bride gives the bride money as a gift.

i was married like that and have been blissfully happy for years. the parents go thro a lot of trouble checking out the background of the groom before they approach the family. most arrangements work. in countries like india where this was the way of life very few marriages ended in divorce.

I am an eastern man I know what u said exactly , I am iranian and I live in Tehran ,the capital of iran,
my suggestion is to learn more about eastern cultures and religions and it would be wonderful if u compare that with the others. I must say here in eastern countries we have huge discrepancy between nations, we are persian and persians just live in iran ,in iranian manners before christain calendar even before zarathustra we believed in monogamous married life, but in Arabia it is not important how many wifes an Arab man could have, see, we are very different,
perhaps u heard sth about marriage celebrations in eastern countris, like "Hana " or "Hanabandan" it is very traditional and somehow beautiful but it can be more traditional in iran than u said , but new couples are not in deep concentration on it,

i think the things that are important in a marriage are not mentioned in manners completely and manners are just explanatory for beauty or religions maybe u like it or dislike it.

may i know where did u see all of them?

Sounds crazy to me! Why would anyone want to allow their parents to choose their mate? And WHY would they agree to marry after such a short time of knowing them?

No because i wouldn't want any one to pick the man I'm going to marry for me.I'd want to be able to pick out my own husband to be instead of someone out for me to marry,

It's pretty cool I guess. Assuming you don't believe in freedom of choice.
