Huskies can be great watch dogs and are generally wonderful with children but their genial nature can make them too friendly to be "mean" to a burglar or criminal. We had a husky for years and she was actually a bit of a wuss. Loud noises and the like would spook her and I would have to check things out FOR HER!
They are wonderful dogs and amazing with kids, although we had a bit of a problem when we got our second dog, the Husky was too aggressive with him - may have been just sibling rivalry though!
Good luck and all the best!
Take a look at these sites - they have been an invaluable resource for us.

Not all huskies are bad watch dogs. My aunt owns more than 9 of them and some of them are really good watch dogs and i would not want to go near them when she is not home. But she has some of them that are just to friendly to be watchdogs.

Who says?!! precaution about Husky breed: 1) they are outdoor canines, 2) they go after their prey( when not supervised) to DIGging out or Jumping over obstacles, 3) they will chase teasing cats 4) will bark at animals before Humans. They are pretty, but in the southern states they get miserable in the Heat! Miserable in the Heat! Did I mention Miserable in the Heat?! IN-home AC does not truly aid their Misery, either!!

You could try to enter my house when I'm not around & test that theory. My huskies have NO sense of humor when it comes to strangers. They are excellent watch dogs, both in the house and outdoors.

I had a siberian husky once and he was the dumbest dog I have ever had. For that matter, he was an awful watchdog too.

Any untrained dog is a bad watchdog.A husky is a smart dog, and can be trained to be an excellent watchdog.
A yard full of untrained dogs will alert you to strangers, but the stranger will be able to walk right through the pack of dogs directly into your house.
Spend the money it costs to properly train a dog, and you'll never regret it.
