If you are a joint account holder with your mother, you would be just as responsible for the debt as is your mother.

Since you are an authorized user, you are NOT responsible for the debt, whether your mother is alive or dead.

When your mother passes away, the debt will need to be paid with her estate. If there are not enough assets in the estate to pay the debts, the debt will be written off by the credit card company. Debts of the estate will need to be paid off before any inheritance can be passed on to the heirs.

If anyone else is joint on any of your mother's property with her, it is possible that those assets will pass outside of the estate, and won't have to be used to pay her debts. For example, if she owns a house or property with someone else, and it is titled as "joint tenants with rights of survivorship", the other owner or owners will then own the property and it doesn't need to be used to pay her debts.

No, you are not responsible as an authorized used. Your mom has given her permission for you to use the card and she maintains responsibility for the debt.

just being an authorized user you have nothing to do with paying the bill
but if you use it after she dies before it's closed then you would have to pay what you used
