It's a common temptation. It's the easiest way Satan gets people to sin. When people are angry, they don't think very rationally and when they are tempted to use God's name in vain, they think nothing of it and just come out and say it.
Satan loves nothing more than to have God's name profaned. So don't allow him to use you to do so. The devil can't make you do it, but he certainly can tempt you do do it. Guard your heart dilligently. Peace out.

Because it's blasphemy, a curse, essentially saying you're so mad you're willing to do something that offends the Deity within this cultural context.
Also - none of the Buddha ever claimed to be a god, but most certainly did exist as persons - the best known and most widely cited being Gautama Buddha.
Whether you believe what he said is up to you.

Actually, my family and i like to subtly poke fun at people like that. Instead of yelling boring old overused phrases like Jesus Christ or what it may be, we say Budda! You should look up some obscure religions and their gods to use as replacements. Uttered in public can render some pretty amusing results. Good luck and have fun!

Of all the reasons for believeing in Jesus Christ that is the last one I would have picked. He raised the dead, healed the sick and dictated some really meaningful stories and had them recorded. Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT is so nice to see such open minded people on this site, who aren't completely close minded and respect everyones beliefs. And You have not spelt either names of the Deity correctly. and most people get angry, that is not what they mutter angrily

Because it lacks the punch.
Holy Uhura-Mazda! (Apologies to those Zoroastrians).
For the love of Joseph Smith! (Ditto to the Mormons)
Ron Hubbard dammit!
It just misses.

I say Jesus Miguel. Not because I'm religous, but out of respect for my Grams who hated when I "took the lords name in vain."

Because Jesus is familiar. Not a whole lot of people say "Xenu Damn It!" just because they don't know who Xenu is....but Xenu does get pissed off and damn things all the time.

Well, no, your theory, while enlightening, is wrong.
It is merely something we learn from society. I mean, why do people say f*ck when something goes wrong? Do you think that they really think that will solve the problem?
