Drysol, (or other solutions with higher amounts of aluminum chloride) which is available by prescription, is far and away the most effective way to get rid of excessive perspiration. I had lots of armpit sweat for years and was embarrassed when my shirts had large, damp rings under the arms.

My dermatologist called out a prescription for Drysol, which I used at bedtime for a full week, then tapered off to once a week, then about once a month, and now I haven't used it in about 1 year and my armpits still DO NOT SWEAT.
You should be aware that it can cause a burning sensation (this only happened to me the first night) and works almost immediately. The very next day I showered, washed the medicine out of my armpits, and was not sweating AT ALL.

Another increasingly popular solution is to have Botox injected into the armpits. This deadens the nerves that control the sweat glands, and reduces underarm perspiration, but like on the face, the effects of Botox wear off after several months.

Be aware that with either of these methods, the body still has to get rid of excess moisture and waste. Your body will compensate by increasing the amount of perspiration it expels in other areas. For myself, I have noticed slightly more sweat on my back and feet.

Whatever anti-perspirants you buy, look for ALUMINUM CHLORIDE. This is the active ingredient that stops perspiration. You should purchase whatever has the highest amount.

Adidas just got a new Cotton Tech Deodorant / Anti-perspirant that absorbs more moisture. I've been using the men's version for a while and it's been great. I sweat alot and this at least keeps my armpits under control, without completely blocking them like usual anti-perspirant. I put a link to a women's version below.
