Why are other countries so envious of the USA?

All i read is you putting the americans down from a-z. And i have came to the conclusion the ones doing this are so damn envious it makes them sick. I have never been a Racist. i entered into questions and answers and thats all i see and its mostly the countries outside of the usa thats doing everything they can to get visa's green cards swimming the river just to get in to the country they claim to hate so much.

It's not just foreigners. There are many U.S. citizens that hate us too. These are the worst. They hate Bush so much that they hate the U.S. and want us to fail because Bush is the president. Clinton could have done the exact same things as Bush and this would have been OK, but since it's Bush it's bad. Foreigners hating the U.S. is not so unusual they have hated us for a long time and yes, it's mostly jealousy. Not just of our wealth but also our good fortune. The French pride themselves in being so liberal and this is rewarded by Muslim youths rioting. The French probably think, "Why us? We are the good guys, riot in the U.S." I do not think we should try to appease these people's gripes because doing so would change this country to be like theirs and this would be very bad. Some from the East are jealous and can only talk about when Iran (Persia), or Iraq etc. were very powerful regions. Today, they rely on terrorist tactics because they cannot muster enough agreement in the region to do anything.

They envy the US in so many ways. The typical-type and the stereotype. Since they live outside of the US, they only have seen what the media and Hollywood have shown and there is no way they can validate it. From outside looking in, they see America is a land of opportunity. Freedom is the main thing. If they have Freedom, they have everything they want or need. And the thing they all need is money. Money to provide for family, for love one. On the same token, you don't really hear the truth voice from other country. You don't know for sure that all the people hate the US, what you heard on TV is what had told to be told (some one ordered someone to say it, not by free will).

The glorious America you see before you is based on the victory of WWII, but America has not won a war since 1945. Believe it or not, America has not fought a declared war since WWII.
The regional wars we have fought have all been very deadly and very clearly draws at best. The great America that you so love has changed more than we understand. But it is not change that we are fighting.
We also do not open up our minds and spirits to find appropriate programs or strategies that will restrain us and other from getting into the next regional war. We seem to think that war is an abberation, but clearly it is a way of life for us.
The boom and bust economies are addicting, but the broken citizenry after one of these Iraq War disassters should supply enough energy to get on the wagon of peace.
Ironically it is not the war part that is the biggest problem, aside from the dead and wounded, it is the peace part. Instead of looking at reality in front of us following one of these bloody mistakes, we try our dammest to recreat the conditions that caused one or more of the past wars.
It is not good enough to just conclude that mankind will always fool itself into failure or cheat itself into mass murder again, no. At the end of one of these wars, it is time to try and avoid the next one. I can hear you thinking about our military, and yes that is what our military is for, defense.
The fact is that our giant Military does not keep us from getting into one or the other of these regional wars. Why, because we do so very little to keep the peace. Selling arms around the world as if we are the master chess players of histroy is not conducive to peace. How do we seek peace is the question and how do we find the appropriate programs or strategies that will restrain us and others from getting into the next regional war.
We care about America, but to help America, it may require some significant sacrifice. But then, do we even want to avoid the next round of killing and dieing we call war?

I have to say that I'm not envious of the US. I won't run you down though because I've been there, and the people have been kind to me. Not so friendly when they're up here though. :o) Or at least the Americans I've encountered here.

I'm Canadian, and although Americans won't admit it, there are many differences between our countries. I spent 5 summers travelling the States and I've been to over 40 of them (several states numerous times), so I've seen 80% of the US. While the US has some good things going for it, it also has negative things, just like any other country.

You also have to sit back and look at where these people are coming from. In some of those countries they could be in serious trouble or even killed if they admitted to even liking America or wanting to live there. Many people in those countries are afraid to speak out for fear for themselves and loved ones. Yes, there are some who hate America and go there anyway. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.

Not envious, they just us because we are ignorant f*cks, they might as well try to bring us down as fast as they can. The entire world's against America and they're all plotting, they have a plan. North Korea is going to the hell out of us. America/ the world, is going downhill so fast and no one seems to see it, or even care. all the a*s holes from other countries come over here so they can be surrounded by the biggest a*s holes in the world, Americans.

Some countries HATE the US right now.....others just mildly dislike.

Just because a country has a beef with us, has nothing to do with an individual trying to get his green card.

(just like not all americans feel the same way as our country represents)

I dont think a lot of countries envy us, I think many pity us.

If people were talking **** about Nazi Germany in the 1940s, would you say "oh, they're just envious" or would you think there was a reason they hated Nazi Germany? People are putting down the US because it is a rogue state which is breaking international law and committing war crimes with impunity. We had no right to go into Iraq, and we have no right to torture people. Yet we do, and nobody can stop us.

I gained insight while shooting a documentary in Agra, India several years ago.
My rickshaw driver, in broken english, spoke glowingly of America and I assumed his viewpoint came from hearing about the wealth of the country.
It wasn't until I visited his ramshackle home that I better understood.
He produced an outdated, dog-eared Union Pacific calendar and, with his family approvingly looking on, flipped through it's pages, proclaiming "America!!" with each scenic monthly picture.
In his world, it was the truth so I did not dispute him.

I think your seeing a reaction to the hate that they come across here. In real life the people here are appreciative to Americans are some of the politest humans I've met. There is a lot passion in answers and the frustration comes out in hateful racist answers on both sides.
