I like to have a dog for a few days first to determine the personality or any funny quirks that might suggest a name. With that said, I just had to have a wonderful dog I'd had for 14 1/2 years put to sleep. Her name was Lucy.

Lucy is a cute name, and it might be nice to go with what your husband likes if you don't feel strongly about anything else. You can always wait a few days and see if anything comes to you once you get to know the dog's personality. More than anything, dogs respond to the sound of your voice as well as the tone you are using. My dog Emma will respond to anything from her name to stink-breath, just as long as I use the same tone of voice.

Do what I do...watch her for a couple days to determine her personality and pick a name based on that...my dog's name is Shadow because she follows everyone around. So far she is 6 months old and it still fits...LOL
