Can't you see that it's morphing into an eating disorder crisis? The media has exaggerated this crisis as much as they exaggerated bird flu. It's absoultley ridiculous

Interesting. If you're sick of hearing about it, why post about it? Now you have a bunch of responses on the very topic that you're so terribly sick of.

The media is not making these things up. The obesity crisis is real. So is the eating disorder crisis. Incidentally, the eating disorder crisis is not a result of the media focusing on obesity. It is the result of the Hollywood preference for anorexic actresses.

Actually the jury is still out on bird flu, it has not evolved into an easily transmissible human virus. YET.

Eating disorder, obesity crisis, it is real. All the extra fat people carry gives them higher risks of diabetes, heart disease, even cancer. See the movie "Supersize Me" about the guy who spends a month, only a month, eating McDonalds and has his blood work go way bad, even bad liver readings somebody with advanced chirossis would get. Throw out your fatty foods!

I agree completely. They always talk about obesity when finally people start getting scared of gaining weight and then stop eating. Eventually it will morph into an eating disorder crisis. Also, they show these celebrities on TV at an unhealthy very skinny weight. You see them and you think you need to look just like them. I mean, who is attracted to someone who looks like a skeleton? All you need to do is eat right and excercise and accept yourself. Don't starve yourself. Don't eat like a pig. ^_^

I have to agree with Gadgety Girl.

We are blessed, living in the U.S., to have an abundance of food. Unfortunately, we don't choose wisely.

And, for many, obesity begins at a young age, because parents are not home to prepare wholesome meals .... snacks and processed junk gluts the neighborhood convenience stores and vending machines ... and kids just play a lot more video games and hangout on the PC than years ago, when they burned it off in the neighborhood.

The bird flu exagerrated? Tell that to the hundreds who have died from it, and their sad families. Tell that to the farmers who have lost the entire livelihood as the government has forced them to destroy their profit.

As for obesity...Yes, we're fat and don't exercise enough. We consume too much food, particularly the fatty good tasting stuff. I've learned to accept it, perhaps I'll open a fast food restaurant or a big and tall clothing store.
