I am a black woman who has experienced hair loss around the edges of my hair and along the sides. After researching, I've found that I have Alopecia which is caused from pulling the hair back to tightly or braiding along the edges to tightly. Since then, I've changed hair style and now were a flat ironed look. But I'd like to grow this area back in because there are times when I like to wear my hair pulled back off my face. Any help and information would be helpful.

Well I am helping my mother out with this problem right now.....for help with growth...you need something that will stimulate it....Yeah vitamins are okay....there are plenty of lists of vitamins that you can take like Vitamin E, Nettles, Biotin...etc...etc. But many women use essential oils like emu oil, rosemary, lavendar and etc.....Rosemary shouldn't be even used by pregant women because when applied..it increases circulation and can raise blood pressure...so I use it faithfully..lol...and I'm also using Shapley's original MTG...google it...it's a horse growth oil...but all of the women that i've seen have at least 1 to 2 inches of new growth in a month....

I had that problem from wearing braids and perms in my hair. It fell out on the sides. Then I found a product line called Organic Root Stimulator. It helped my hair grow back in less than 1 month!!! Along with the proper care and treatment this product will definitely help bald spots grow back in.

A home remedy I use is 100% pure Olive oil mixed with 100% Pure Honey. Warm this mixture up in the microwave about 30 seconds, let it cool to touch and the MASSAGE it into your SCALP do not put it on all of your hair. Just the scalp. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and rinse...do this a couple times a month , once a week would be okay too and your hair and scalp will be moisturized and manageable!

Good Luck

Before taking any medicines I would try natural homemade remedies like this for example:

"Yemeni med: Soak fenugreek (Hilba) in deep pot of water throughout the night. Massage the liquid into the scalp and wrap with a cloth for 3 hours. Repeat everyday for 1 month.
"
