Your will need an HD tunner. If you have cable or sattelite, your service provider will be able to provide the appropriate equipment. For instantce, when I got my HD Ready TV, my cable provider (Comcast) switched out my digital cable box with an HD digital cable box for an additional $2 per month. This allows me to get HD quality programs.

If you do not want to rent the box, you may be able to purchase an HD tunner from an electronics retailer -- just make sure it is compatable with your cable/sattelite provider's equipment. However, if using your own box, you may not be able to access certain features (i.e. direct tv, interective tv guide, etc.). Check with your service provider first.

Hope this helps.

An HDTV ready or HDTV monitor mean that you can connect an external HDTV source--such as an HD cable box, an HD satellite tuner, and/or an over-the-air digital/HDTV tuner, and watch high-def programs on the TV. In a built in HDTV you just need an over the air antenna and you will be able to watch the HD programs that are broadcast over the air in High-Def, these tv's have a built in tuner.

if your tv is already hdtv ready than their is an hdtv tuner (atsc) built in. all you need is a way to receive the signals. either an atsc antenna for over the air broadcasts or a digital cable or satellite connection.

An HDTV tuner, either from your cable or satellite provider or the retailer where you purchased the TV.
