I had a summer job at a dog grooming salon when I was in high school...We had a lot of dogs sprayed by skunks and we would always use 1 part baking soda, 1 part Dawn dish soap, and 1 part hydrogen peroxide. On dogs will light fur, you can actually see a yellowish spot where the dog was hit. Try to go over that area several times. Tomato juice really doesn't work as well as this..

You need something that's going to neutralize the odor...there are some commercial products you can buy at the vet or pet shops, tend to be expensive. The best way we've found is to use Masengil douche, it's cheap, and works great to neutralize the stench. You may have to buy several, but it works really well. Otherwise vinegar and baking soda, or the old stand-by, tomato juice. Our dogs get sprayed several times a year, the stupid things!

two bottles of hydrogen peroxide and
1/2 cup baking soda
1 squirt of liquid dish soap
Mix in a bucket and sponge on dog let sit 10-15 mintues and rinse well with water.
This works FAR FAR better than tomato juice.
My dogs get skunked about once every couple of months here and this is what I use for it.

I guess tomato juice, cause I always hear that that's the best thing to use, just ask your local vet where to find one or ask if they have some, give your dog a tomato juice bath??

I don't think tomato juice will work. It'll just stain your dog's fur and make it smell like ketchup.

there is a formula. its dawn dish soap, hydrogen pipoxicide and something else. you will find it on line. or call the vet. but dont let the dog near anything. even after you get the dog cleaned it will smell for awhile
