Bars, clubs, special interest groups, activity organizations, and if you feel comfortable with the idea...try the internet. Sometimes there are good guys who are looking for their queen on there. Just be open minded to dating around, but don't sacrifice your standards.
P.S. - I'm available. ;)

I can relate to how you feel. When my first marriage ended it was really hard realizing I had never been with anyone else and had no clue how to meet people. I found the best thing you can do is simply talk to people. Talk to people at work, people you run into in your daily life. By getting to know these people and talking to them you will eventually start to fit into places and it will make you seem more open to meeting more people. Often meeting new people is just about expanding the connections you already have. So relax, take your time, and don't let it bother you that things will take awhile. Ultimately though I can tell you from experience it gets easier and you find out there are still a lot of wonderful people out there worth knowing and who are interested in knowing you.

Do you have a job? Are there people there you talk with? That's a good place to start. Invite one out for coffee or an after work drink, if you do that. Or even to dinner. Tell them you've recently found yourself single again & need to get out more; meet new people. We've all been there. You will find sympathetic ears and people that will help get you back into the stream.

Now that he is out of the picture, this is the perfect time to give yourself some "me" time, and reconnect with your friends. You might want to avoid the most frequent places you and your ex went on dates. If you are close to a beach, the go to the beach and go talk to the lifeguards :) This way you wont feel weird being at the beach alone since is the place where singles gals hang out and strut their stuff. Or at the mall, the park, basically places where there are lots of people around.
And what about your family, If you have a great relationship with them then hang out with your family too.

The gym, go for a walk, bike ride, beach volleyball. Join some kind of club that has your age group. Its not easy, I separated from my husband of 22 years a month ago and if I didn't have a job I liked and two kids I wouldn't know what to do.
Just be yourself and focus on you. Pamper yourself and do all the things that you like to do that give you the most pleasure. People are attracted to people who are happy. Meeting friends lovers takes time.

Try doing a new activity - like take a kick boxing class if that interests you, or try pottery class. There are lots of fun things to do when you are single, and depending on what you like to do - you should be able to hook up with people who have similar interests as you...
My most recent favorite "new" activity is a cooking class - it's tons of fun and always lots of great food at the end...
Also - in spite of the fact that most people are intimidated going to a new gym, working out can be the best way to mee new people... There are tons of different people at a gym, and I am sure you would be able to find someone to chat with, maybe even find a great workout partner!

It's more of where your mind needs to go rather than where you should physically go.
You need to put your mind in a place where you put the past behind you, and look forward to a new life in your future. It's easy to hold onto the past and go back to it because the past is predictable while the future is not. Initially, you're going to feel our of place, but that will pass quickly. Where you meet people is secondary to being willing to open up and accept new friends.
