It depends on what you are drinking. Calories are what matters, not liquid or solid. Many, many liquids are VERY high in calories and many have zero nutrition. Sugared sodas WILL make you fat. Water, clearly has no calories and won't. Milkshakes will make you fat.

Most of what we drink has very little nutrition, if any at all. Most drinks that are high nutrition, like Ensure are high calorie too. There are some decent choices, like kefir and soups.

You are likely to not get anything remotely close to a healthy balance of nutrients consuming just liquids. What's more they aren't going to contain things that keep you feeling satiated, like fiber, so you will be perpetually hungry and more likely to over-consume beverages that are high calorie.

If you figure that most dieters should be at least 1500 calories a day (and below 1000 is too low and will mess up your body and cause you to regain your weight and more the minute you try to eat normally), it would only take maybe 6 or so cups (8 oz cups) of caloric drinks to hit that. You'd feel like you were starving and couldn't stick with it.

You do need lots of water everyday. A better choice would be to eat tons of vegetables and fruit, with a smaller amount of lean meats or vegetarian protein sources, a yogurt a day or two, and that's about it. All the veges fill you up with fiber and vitamins, there's very little fat in this combination and you'll get plenty of what your body needs to work right.

This is a late answer but I'm just commenting for people looking for recent answers. You will lose weight, but if you decide to do this, juice your food instead. I had oral surgery a few years back and my surgeon put me on a liquid only diet for 7 weeks while my mouth healed. The best thing that I did was to drink water and juice. I purchased a juicer and juiced fresh fruit, spinach, kale, ginger, etc. I lost 25lbs doing this in those 7 weeks. I was in the military so by the time the 7 weeks was up I ended up going to Korea and trying all of the cuisine there so the weight came back slowly. But even after you do your liquid only diet, transition back by eating healthy so you can maintain your weight....along with exercising.

Depends what is inside the liquids. Losing weight means eating right, by starving yourself is totally wrong. Fats and sugars are the 2 facts that will increase weight.

I lost 10 lbs by changing my eater habit and order, as a matter of fact I eat more than before. Now my body weight stabilizes +- 1 to 1.5lbs, I'm happy with that.

Eat the right stuff and don't just drink liquids, you don't want to faint on a street.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

2 years ago I started drinking nothing but water and I started losing all this weight but exercising and eating right also will help you lose weight. I f you stop drinking coke and stuff like that and drink only water you will lose weight. Have about 8 glases a day .

just changing what you drink can help you loose weight. cut down to one carbonated beverage a day, you can loos 35 lbs in a year. Carbonation is a gas, and gas cannot be broke down by the body. as far as a liquid diet, you can loose weight but you would need to increase your vitamins. lots of fluids can dilute your electrolytes and vitamins and minerals so you gotta increase these a lot.

If your looking for a good drink I recommend home-made, with organic fruits and veggies of your choice. Recommended products to put in your drinks are all natural like Sambazon Acai, and Garden Of Life. Use sweetners like Stevia and Agave and Vega. Use a lot of different things and ingredients in your smoothies to give it the taste and nutrition that your looking for.
