I'am a lawyer from the Philippines and wants to practice my profession here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I understand that one has to pass the bar exams, but as an immigrant what are the initial steps to take? Where can I have my credentials assessed? Can you please provide me with the name of the institutions to go to and their contact numbers, address and e-mail address.

First all of all you need to assess your credentials here so go the associations that help with that>
My suggestion is Costi or skillsforchange web sites to find the location closest to you.
Book an appointment and they'll refer to the services you need to get the assessment and the training you might need to practise law in Ontario. Good luck!

try to visit the site www.immigrationexpert.com. They can counsel you about the plan "skilled worker" and if you're qualified, you may have a working permit, visa.... and a residency.
