I try the same thing. I hear that noise you talk about. I also hear hear my pulse, which makes me think perhaps it's not blood flowing that makes the constant noise. I think, perhaps, it is just ambient sound traveling through my body.

It is the sound of the fluid flowing in your blood vessels. Some rather large ones pass behind the ears (the carotid). Blood tends to surge and flow, especially in the arteries near the heart, because of the action of the heart. The ventricle pumps blood out into the arteries, but even when not under pressure, the blood continues to move.
This is the same noise that you hear in a seashell, but the seashell magnifies it.
