Yes..your metabolism will actually slow down because you're starving yourself. You won't lose any weight that way.

It depends on your individual self. That amount of calories per day would be okay if you were a couch potatoe all day. Generally, you should have 1500 calories per day. If you have less calories a day, it doesn't mean you will loose weight. This is why when people diet they actually sometimes end up gaining weight. They don't eat and starve themselves so then when they finally think they're getting skinnier and then they start eating the food gets turned into fat. Your body goes into starvation mode. Everything you eat turns to fat. If you want to maintain a healthy diet. Eat breakfast, lunch, and an early dinner before 6:00. No snacks in between. Do not drink when you are eating. Wait an hour later then have water or something not too fattening (liquids are mischievous). Also, walking is the best excercise. It gets you breathing and everything part of your body slims down evenly.

You should not eat under 1000 calories a day because too few calories make your body go into "Starvation mode" and you can actually gain weight

Try this instead....A few years ago I did not change any of my eating habits but starting walking for 1/2 hour a day (2 miles) I started to loose weight. Because it boosts your metabolism. Then later on I cut out only 100 to 200 calories out of my normal diet then increase my exercising program. I went to 6 miles a day and added some weights training 3x a week. I lost 30 pounds over the summer

900 calories and you are starving yourself. No good with come out of this--plus you can't maintain this long. Your hair will start to fall out, your nails will get soft, your brain will get foggy...is that what you want?

1200 is what you want if you are trying to lose weight. BUT, you must have veggies, fruits, proteins and yes, even some carbs to have the fuel that your body needs to run correctly.

Well the average number of calories a person should intake really depends on weight, height, age, and things like that, but the average is about 1200 a day. As long as you are not starving yourself that is fine.

That's pretty low even if charts showed a person severely obese, but 1200 might be reasonable under those circumstances if all required nutrients were there.

For someone in range on charts, this would not be good.

If you're not very active then no. But if you're working/going to school/ playing sports like tennis or soccer regularly, then you have to eat more calories than that.

No, you need between 2,000-2,5000 a day. As a rule of thumb you need 3,500 to gain a pound! Are you trying to gain or loose weight?

well, it depends largely on your day activities... if you do mainly office work, then you should consume a little more calories than your basal metabolism rate... but on weekends for example, where you go cycling at parks, you should consume more calories...

yes.. it will slow down your metabolism, eat away at your body and make you sick since you wont have vitamins from foods... it will eventually basically make you gain weight due to metabolism slowing down to try to keep the food that you do eat in your body.
