Dr. Doolittle,
Don't encourage him with laughter, stop listening to him, quit sharing your cookies and oh yeah, I liked the one that suggested you should mention the pound! :-)
To some others, hey - don't you know it's healthy for you to laugh and smile?

Just look him in the face and tell him that was the worst joke you've ever heard. Then go out and buy some joke books and get some good videos. You can update his joke material and at the same time you can bond with each other. Ahh...how sweet :)

Just ignore him. If he realises that his jokes aren't funny, then maybe he'll just stop if he sees you don't care. If that fails, hint that you might be going to the pound later - that will shut him up for sure, but it could also ruin the relationship that you and your dog share.

We bought a couple of poodle-grooming videos. As soon as we pop them in the vcr, the dog is completely distracted. Plus, he can't talk and lick himself at the same time.

Im surprised you would even want your dog to stop talking to you , because either you or your dog must be very very clever , that you can either understand bow wow neise - or your dog can talk english !!
