I have a Korean American friend who had Duel citizenship and he too had to chose when he was 18. Now if you have a son I don't know why you would want duel citizenship because that would put him in a position of having to serve his 2 years in the Korean military. This is a requirement of all Korean men, my freind didn't know this, didn't speak Korean and for the first few months he kept getting letters in Korean that he didn't understand. Turned out they were his draft papers, and he hadn't lived in Korea since he was 2 years old.

You might have to check on the Korean or British government websites. A lot of countries have dual nationality pacts with some countries, and some not. For example, I know that Korea doesn't allow dual nationalities with the U.S. and Korea. However, Canada allows dual nationalities with Korea, I think.

Hope that helps~!

My friends baby was born in NZ (both parents are Korean citizens) he has New Zealand citizenship, but a permanent Korean visa stamped into his NZ passport (he is in Korea now).
Then when he is 18 he can choose what nationality he wishes to use.
It's not so much dual nationality... just a permanent residency until he decides whether to forefit his NZ citizenship.

If the parents are the citizens of a country, but the child is born in ANOTHER country, I think they would have dual citizenship. However, I am not sure, so check up on it, and don't just take my word for it. Hope you find out soon. Good luck! And congratulations.

To my knowledge Korea doesn't allow dual nationalities, but do check on it. I think they have to choose before they turn 18.

We are American, and our son was born in England. He had duel citizen ship until he turned 18, then he had to choose which he wanted to keep.
