"Twenty-one former generals and high ranking national security officials have called on United States President George W. Bush to reverse course and embrace a new area of negotiation with Iran, Iraq, and North Korea. In a letter released Thursday, the group told reporters Bush's 'hard line' policies have undermined national security and made America less safe."

They go on to note that Bush's policies have encouraged Iran to develop nuclear weapons, and that even Reagan negotiated with the Soviets.

It's time to change. But will they?

Gee, ya think they might have a political bias? There are a lot more than 21 former and current generals and national security officials who probably support Bush's policies, so what does that prove? Let's face it, you give credence to any small number of people who support your views and you ignore larger numbers of people who oppose those views.

As for Iran and North Korea, their nuclear development work was on-going when Bush took office. Hell, Clinton GAVE a nuclear plant to North Korea to bribe them from pursuing nukes - they continued anyway. We will NOT negotiate one-on-one with North Korea, because that is an affront to South Korea, Japan, and China, who all have a stake in this. I thought you people hated 'unilateralism'?

As for Iran, the EU 3 and the UN have been negotiating with them for years, and have nothing to show for it but the sneering contempt of the Iranians. As soon as Bush talked about negotiations, the Iranians laughed in our faces at our weakness. It is ignorant to think negotiating with resolve their jihadist ambitions.

As for national security and making the US less safe - prove it. Are we less safe than we were on 9/11? No, we are more safe. How is our national security undermined? Because leftist scum are leaking security secrets to the NYTimes, that's Bush's fault?

And it would be silly to compare the colony in Algeria to what is going on in Iraq, despite what the general says. They are not comparable circumstances.

Army Generals....The Marines are running the Show now.
Peter Pace is a Marine so it is not suprising that a stupid leftist like your self would leave this out. Wesley Clark is not a great leader remember the Loss of Pristina airport to the Russians during the War in Bosnia? You forgot I thought so....The Army must change because we need lighter divisions and the Army does not like it or the faction to which you refer opposes the changes.

information your quote does not give is how long ago did these generals retire? what administration did these officials serve in. also since they are FORMER, they are obviously NOT privvy to current intelligence thus are speaking only from the knowledge limited to the civlian population. next, how many successful terrorist attacks have occured in this nation SINCE 9/11?? how can they claim the u.s. is less safe? and iran would have developed nuclear weapons regardless of bush's polices since they BEGAN their nuclear program during CLINTON's administration..a nuclear program does not happen overnight.

As thirteen foxes answer proves.. there is no end to the stupidity and refusal to acknowledge fact in the Bush boot-licker camp.

And LIBERAL generals.. I though the conservatives had the military all locked up? At least that's how they try to spin it.
