The CBS poll found that nearly 60% of Americans now think things are going badly for the U.S. in Iraq. That number has continued its rise since early last month.

Just 32 percent of Americans say the U.S. is in control of events in Iraq, while 57 percent think the U.S. is not in control. That's a drastic change in public perceptions since the end of April, when the war was still underway and 71 percent said the U.S. was in control.

Most Americans favor more international involvement in Iraq, with 69 percent saying the United Nations, not the United States, should take the lead in setting up a new Iraqi government. Most americans agree the Iraq war in not going according to plans. 62% of the Americans polled said the war will end up like Vietnam. We will lose.

We should know by now that any poll conducted by TV related polls are motivated by ratings and money. If a person wants a true reading about whats going on in Iraq we should be polling people who have served in Iraq. The views of the public are based on what they see on TV and read in the papers which we should all know by now our vehicles used to advance left and right wing agendas. Most newspapers twist news stories to advance regional political views. TV reporters and stations have even in the latest Israel Lebanon war doctored and staged phony pics and situations to further incite and distort what was really going on. We should let the military do what they are trained to do when involved in a war and we should let our votes decide whether we trust our government or not. I for one think the Dems are cowards whose only goals are to raise taxes and spend money on minority projects and agendas. We have let minority rights groups decide and the ACLU change laws the are against the views and values of the majority of people in this country. The Republicans are not much better but they can't be called the party for cowards and I would rather we fight the enemies of our country over there and not in my town square.

Keep in mind that these polls are placed in Liberal forms of media so it is only the liberals who are taking the polls. Also, if the UN wants to pick up the slack and start helping out, be my guest. Then we can have the time we need to get back to work finding Osama Bin Laden. The sad truth is, the UN doesn't have to balls to do anything but speak out. They are all talk and no action. They wouldn't have a clue what to do with Iraq. and we would end up worse then we already are.

1. 53.7% of all statistics are made up, polls are NEVER a true sign of what people think. 2. we lost vietnam because the politicians listened to the poll makers, we WON the battles, but lost the war because we gave up before the job was done. so to all those saying we need to pull out before it becomes another vietnam it WONT' become another vietnam UNTIL we pull out. now as far as the UN being in charge of anything, the conflict in afghanistan did not resurge until the UN started to try and take control, so yeah they are competant (please notice the sarcasm). btw cbs also had numerous polls prior to the last election stating that kerry was going to win by a landslide...from what i remember it was the exact opposite..so the question is are YOU willing to accept the fact polls don't mean crap.

in the adventure that they grow to be the 51st state, they are going to be more effective to blame for the funding of that state. because it stands now, they get some distance more effective federal help then they could as a state. So it isn't in Puerto Rico's suited interest. it really is the way I save in options it the perfect time this difficulty got here up. =============== existence is so undemanding, yet we insist on making it complicated Confucius 551 - 479 BC =============== Peace Jim .

No one ever wins when it comes to war just some just come out better in the end than others. You can not win if you are at war because some one has to die or it wouldn't be war, and when some one dies than it is a loss!

Depending on who is running the poll, it can say whatever you want it to say. 93% of Americans think invading Mars is a good idea etc. It's all how the spin is put on it.

We won vietnam militarily. We killed more of them, than they did us.

We lost vietnam POLITICALLY.

End up like vietnam, WTF?

Vietnam wasa country that did actual attacks where thousands would die in a matter of days.

Iraq is small skirmishes IF THAT.

Have you been there yet? No?

So what do you know?

pessimistic retards.

My Hubby is in Iraq, and this is the first and ONLY deployment out of 4 that he objects too. He is over their, sees what is going on first hand, and if our own TROOPS are against it,then Hello..Bush....Anyone home? Get a hint and get us out! Your pocketbooks are lined enough from the oil! If the USA Soldiers think we need to head out,we have done what we can, then I think the Govt. should listen! It is great we have built schools, have fresh water for the towns, and killed tons of asshole terrosists, but our job is done there he says....

I support our TROOPS but not BUSH!

All the way through it says "him" but don't forget "Her" too....

Your alarm goes off; you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes.
He stays up for days on end.
-- --
You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
-- --
You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at, as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
-- --
You put on your anti war/"don't support the troops" shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
-- --
You make sure your cell phone is in your pocket.
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
-- --
You talk trash on your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
-- --
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
-- --
You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
-- --
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He does not get to eat today.
-- --
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for months, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
-- --
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
-- --
You are angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He is told he will be held an extra 2 months.
----
You call your girlfriend and set a date for that night.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
-- --
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
-- --
You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
-- --
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own government and remembers why he is fighting.
-- --
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of the men like him.
He hears the gun fire and bombs.
-- --
You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the bodies lying around him.
-- --
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does what he is told.
-- --
You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call and write home, sleep, and eat.
-- --
You crawl into your bed, with down pillows, and try to get comfortable.
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken by gun fire.
-- --
You sit there and judge him, saying the world is a worse place because of men like him. If only there were more men like him
