by all means i am not a psychiatrist although i have had several sessions, the psychiatrist changed his diagnosis each session. i have very strong opinions about this topic. i am not saying that their arent people who should take meds. but i truly believe in most situations if you were able to function normally at one point in your life than consider the changes that have taken place. seek help, the right kind of help, most importantly start during for yourself, this is exactly what i did , believe in it, since i have been doing since my life is much better .......oh yeah... the meds... met the toilet...
now i know i am at my best...
i have only myself to thank...

You didn't state the initial reasons for being put on these meds. Was it depression. How long have you been taking the med. Anti-depression med take several days to 2 weeks to build up in your body and have you feeling less depressed. One kind if anti-depression med might work for some people and not others. Then another anti-depression med should be prescribed by your Dr. Sometimes it is more difficult to find a med that works for a particular person. Also, a family Dr sometimes is not as well trained to recognize which anti-depression med to prescribe for an individual as a psychiatrist is. I cannot think of the name for a Dr whose specialty is dealing with conditions such as depression and after seeing and talking to the person is able to know which med would be the most beneficial for that particular individual. They have additional training in the pharmacy aspect even beyond psychiatrists They are a Dr/pharmacist, but I can't think of their exact title. You have not given enough info to know about how your husband plays a part in this situation. Is he frustrated and unable to understand the depression or is the relationship playing a part in this depression. I would suggest you look into someone in the medical field who is trained especially to deal with depression. If you want to feel better you may have to see a Dr/pharmacist or maybe even a psychiatrist. There may be a medical referal service you can contact to find a Dr in your area. I know when one is depressed sometimes it's difficult trying to deal with finding the right Dr and med, but just remember you need to push yourself and deal with it if you want to handle the depression. I wish you the best and please hang in there, you will find it was worth it!

Lorivan is an anti-anxiety medication. It is in the same class as Ativan, lorezapam. They depress the central nervous system which could explain the depressed feelings. Prozac is a antidepressant. Sometimes putting a depressant (loirvan) and an antidepressant (prozac) together is like putting a humidifier and a dehumidifier in the same room and let them fight it out. You see what I'm saying?
As for getting rid of your husband, I wouldn't recommend it unless he's just absolutely mentally, verbally and especially physically abusive.
A good medication for depression and anxiety I've found is Effexor 225mg per day. You'd want to start at 75mg per day and each week add another 75mg until you reach the 225mg daily.
Please consult your family doctor about the effexor. He know's your situation the most and can help you with the medication. I'm just offering you some information that I hope will help you in your care.
Good Luck and keep your chin up. keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.

No one on the site has the knowledge of authority to tamper with your medicines. If you did not like one psychiatrist, see another. PLEASE
