False. If you're suggesting that Christians' problem is that they don't like themselves enough then you're WAY off track.
Fundamentalist religions persist by attracting and retaining adherents, and by severe social sanctions against leaving the flock. When Christians say that a person is nothing without Christ, they're emphasizing the notion that "Those of us who believe are special, having a rare relationship with an extremely powerful being, and those of you who do not have that relationship are nothing". It certainly has nothing to do with a poor self image: quite the opposite. The "a person is nothing without Christ" line is not self-denigrating, it's arrogant.
(Later: Yup, just look at the arrogant Christians' answers to your question. Q.E.D.)

I am glad I a man atheist too and I am not one by choice but reather an atheist because I have never had a religious experience.
Christians on the contrary are very proud of themselves.
Remember you and I would not be here without christians as .001 of the fighting men abnd women in all wars involving america did not win battles.=, or wars. Reather it was the 90%christian majority who did win battles and wars. We were an extreme minority in deciding america's or the world's direction.
With out those hard headed christians we would be in deep trouble so don't knock em.
I think jesus was a real figure something like an earlier jim joines with out his (jim)murderous rage.
Christians are very much at peace with themselves and most really do care about themselfs and others like you and I also.
There are more true beleivers in America than anywhere in the world. America is the most religious strong country on earth and that make sthe unites states also the strongest military wise, ,industry, commercial, and most important America is the strongest family conscious country in the world.
This is our strength(the family) , their religion and the reason we can live in peace or as peacefully as possible today.

I always thought it was a little presumptuous to be "atheist". I'm not making any personal judgements, but the universe is a big place. How can anyone know and understand so much that they can be personally assured that there is no higher power than the human mind? I suppose it takes a strong lack of faith that may take near the amount of effort it takes to wholly believe in God. I suppose it takes a sort of faith- which is what you question about christians. As for as the "nothing without Jesus" thing, I think we're all somebody and something, but having the actual experience and a real relationship can actually make life "better". Yes, I believe many "spiritual" things are more mental or emotional than a lot of people will admit, and many many christians do use Jesus as a crutch. But at the very least, christianity (as it should be) can give people a greater ability to hope, trust, love, and have faith- all of which are great. Yes there are those who don't act like that, and yes there are extremists, but if you do actually enter into a real christian lifestyle and relationship with Jesus, there are things that are undeniable. Of course there are things I doubt and have trouble with, but beneath all of it and apart from all of my qualms with the tremendous amount human involvement in religion, there is something that feels very real to me. Perhaps I am guilty of my own accusation, but I would rather live my life alongside "my friend Jesus" than without. It's not that I don't think I can make it without him, or that I wouldn't have a good life, but I do think my life, and I, are better for it. I know that may not be the strongest example you have heard, but it is mine, and I refuse to believe- just as you refuse to believe in God- that my life is without purpose. If that makes me weak, then I'll live with it.

Well, yeah, we are sinners but the good thing is Jesus died on the cross for us to take away that sin and He forgives us. So we try our best to not sin but we still do every day. The good thing is, we pray to God for repentance and He gives it to us. We only depend on God to give us the strength to get through each day and it isn't true that we think that we are NOTHING. You got this thing all wrong. God isn't an imaginary friend. Sure He's invisible, but you still know he's there. Remember on 9-11 the tower was burnt down but then was burnt down into the shape of a cross? And how can you say He's not there? Being an Atheist would majorly suck.

True? Not so much.
First of all it's pretty stupid that you rip on Christianity because you don't' believe it. It would be just as dumb for Christians to do the same with your beliefs which I think are stupid.
That's what makes it personal. If you don't want to have faith in a higher power, you don't have to but don't rip on others that do. We all have our own beliefs and the reason there are conflicts and wars is because of idiot statements and minds like your own.
I'm glad your an atheist too. I'd hate to have another Christian who thinks they're better and smarter than others. There are too many already.

C.S. Lewis as quickly as stated, and specific i'm misquoting, that Christ became into the two insane, mendacity or the Son of God. relatively you the two have confidence he's who he says he's or you do no longer. so, in case you think of christ became into insane than it stands to reason his followers are the two insane, if not extra so. And if Christ became into mendacity then is followers are misguided. If he's the Son of God then his followers at the instant are not something with out Him. i do no longer have confidence this comes from psychological abuse purely a differing concept in who you have confidence Christ to be. it is extremely unquestionably a bounce of religion to have confidence he's the Son of God. So, in this easy, I thoroughly comprehend each and every of the objections that atheists have. Then whilst it is highlighted with the aid of lack of information, loud mouths, or hypocrisy on the area of the believers in Christ, it only serves to augment that Christ became into the two loopy or mendacity. Very unhappy. I do think of there are various many spectacular Christians available nevertheless. i comprehend particularly some. enable's stop observing the guy wearing the christian badge and seem on the guy who made the badge first of all.

I don't like my self because I'm a sinner, but I love Jesus because he died for my sins. If Jesus didn't exist then why do the Christian religion exist today. It talks about the history of the Christian faith coming about in the Bible, but I never hear any atheist point of veiw on how the Jews became Christians. Where's the evidence for that?

It's sad enough that you living in limbo...but rejoicing too.Have you ever be in a state where nothing you do helps or no one cares....There's where you find a true friend...that's JESUS.If he didn't died on the cross for us ,we would still be away from God.He send the Holy Spirit to be our guide to him. This we should give n praise him for all ....He did allow us to make mistakes after mistakes ...yet he's always welcome us back to him...Don't you think that's worth a lot more than the world that's here now but will disappear nd in it's place a world where's there no more tears and dispair. We and God will live together...WOW!Til that time ...come,we should pray and ask that we will be able to stand upright and praise God and not be ashamed of our relationship with God.God bless n guide you .Amen!

i am between religions right now..i raised as christian but i am having second thoughts. I think the Jesus thing is something to believe in. Without something that strong to put your faith in you'd be lost. Jesus died for their sins so they believe that even though it is natural for humans to sin they will be forgiven. When someone like you or i sin it's just how the world goes round. And to them, compared to the ultimate power of god, they are nothing.

Because I have Jesus in my life I am beautiful in every way. He made me that way.
If I do not recognize my creator then I am nothing. That (in my opinion) is the same as denying a parent.
You will not be glad that you are and atheist when its your judgment day.
