Its compulsary for muslims to wear a scarf( the woman)?

but if one isnt used to it, its sometimes abit difficult to catch on the habit, what shld one do, and wad is the punishment for not having on a scarf?

Of course it will take sometime to get used to it but that's what Jihad with ones self is all about! Trust me, many women I knew didn't wear the hijab but with time they see it as part of their identify. They are so happy that they've taken the steps towards wearing the hijab and getting used to it!

It will be difficult at first but I suggest doing the following:

1- Have supportive people around you, and if you don't , always know that God and the Prophet (PBUH) are so happy with you. THEY support you :)

2- Of those women (including young women) who have reclaimed or have held onto the hijab as a part of their daily wear, many speak of being treated with respect. And you want to be respected don't you? Do you want to be seen for yourself or do you want to be appreciated for your body as a commodity to be attractive and attract? Hijab will give you the respect that you deserve. You will be treated equally and judged on your personality, morals and mind instead of your physical appearance and sexuality! Alway attach positive thinking to you hijab!

3- Be proud of yourself! Hijab is meant to elevate the status of the Muslim woman by preserving her dignity and honor.

4- It is important to remember that the purpose of hijab in Islam is not to cut women out from participating in the activities of the society or to keep men and women utterly segregated or to make it hard for women to function normally in life. Rather the purpose of hijab is to help women maintain their dignity and honor as free persons and to help them fulfill their obligations smoothly and comfortably.

It's the least because women wear the veil and cover all their bodies, and by that they protect themselves from the eyes of men.
Veil is a protection for women.
And the Muslims are not the only people who have such rules.
