Part of this is simply due to excitement. When you are with someone you love, or are just thinking about them, you have an increased blood flow not unlike you would if you were anxious, frightened, or angry. In addition, part of what you feel is not really your heart, but simply your emotional state and the overall sense of your body, which are affected by conscious thought and by hormones.

As far as I know, there is no medical term for the "love thing". The heart is a universal sign of love, so maybe this is where people are getting this from. I would imagine that when you're in love, your brain would secrete a chemical which would make you feel very relaxed and safe.....with no defensive postures that are needed. There is no stress feelings, just a peace which would be more calming to the body than anything else. Of course this is all my opinion. I congratulate you for being in love, and wish that it becomes a lifelong thing for you. Best wishes to you in the future.

Love doesnt make your heart flutter or skip a beat..That's just a figure of speech
.However, you may be feeling "the afterburners " of love.It could be simply a hormone rush. . But you could also have a heart condition or just being excited
.contact your doctor, and he can exam you and run tests for heart problems.Better safe than sorry....

In fact, there be be an effect of adrenaline.
When in a nervous situation, you have a release of adrenaline. This is to increase your metabolism for 'fight' or 'flight'.
It also increases your heart rate. That may give the feeling in your heart.

for the same reason people feel "butterflies" in their stomachs when they are nervous. You cannot separate the mind from the body.
