Not a guru per say...
But a number of years ago I was going through a pretty dry time spiritually. I was discussing this with a friend and they suggested finding a spiritual director. I ended finding one through a local Episcopal Church. Best thing that ever happened to my spirituality. I saw her for about three years.
A spiritual director is a person you talk to about your spiritual life. They generally ask more questions then give answers. They help you explore ways of deepening your spiritual life that will work for you.

Recently there was a great spiritual master on this planet, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Today his disciples whom he ordered to be gurus are carrying on his mission. One of them (my spiritual master) you can find at www.backtohome.com. There you can sign up for his free e-course and later ask him all kinds of personal questions about spiritual things. In order to know how to recognize genuine guru, you can study the authorized books of His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. You can find them online at www.vedabase.net
