Disneyland is by far cooler than camping for a six year old. The trouble with disneyland, though, is that none of his friends can go.

So if he wants his friends to be there, go camping, but if he wants a very cool vacation for himself, then disneyland is the way to go. At 6, i'm not sure if he cares about his friends being there, but disneyland is the best at that age, and the grownups will have fun too.

Go camping in the great outdoors. Disneyland is wonderful don't get me wrong, but if you live nearby, you can do that anytime. Camping, you and your son will create some amazing memories that will last a lifetime and the best part is it won't cost you the equivalent of your second born child.
When you go camping you can do great stuff like hiking, canoeing, swimming fishing etc.
When you go to Disney, you stand in line for a really long time and are on the ride for maybe two minutes. You stand in line to visit Characters snap a picture and thats it.
This is a great opportunity for you to teach your son the importance of respecting and enjoying our environment.
Have a great time and wishing him a very happy 6th birthday.

Disneyland is a major financial investment. And 6 year olds will be exhausted not very long into the day from the long lines and sheer magnitude of the place. Be prepared for that.

Now that you've told your son about Disneyland, if you don't go, you'll have to deal with his disappoingment.

If you just do camping, he'll feel cheated.

Just let him know he can't do both. He is at an age where being able to make decisions is very important. Tell him he is a big boy now and it is up to him to pick ONE. You can have him write down pros and cons if that helps. (or draw little pictures if he wants insted of writing.) Weigh the good and the bad points of each trip and choose the one with the most good points. Try one index card for Disney and one for camping and have him put sticker stars for the good points of each place. The one with the more stars wins! Just make sure it is HIS good points, not older siblings or anyone else making decisions for him. He will feel much better if he knows it is just about him!

I wouldn't do any. That's just spoiling your child. I would throw him a birthday party with his friends. Taking him to disney land is WAYY too expensive for a child's BIRTHDAY? yeah and a camping trip is more reasonable. I would take him on a camping trip. More reasonable. Hope you make a good decision! Have fun!<3

There is a campground not to far from Disneyland. You can always go there!! And if not go to disneyland. There is nothing better than having a kid spend his special day in that kind of a special place!!!
