I am bipolar (or so they tell me) andy way I just lost my medicaid and was forced to take insurance at work. Even with my insurance my medications will cost in excess of $100.00 per month. Not feasable on my budget at all. Anyone know of any help for those that cannot afford medications? I can already start to feel my mood become unstable and it is taking everything in me to control my anger.

Can you take generics instead of brand name meds. They are cheaper. I know, its not supposed to be done, but I have a friend who buys her meds from Canadian websites because she simply can not afford to pay US prices even with her job. If you can do a trip to Canada, even better, because I don';t know if over the internet they might sell you nearly expired ones... Or contact the Pharmaceutical company, maybe their public relations office has some program to assist low income working people ge their meds at lower prices or can advice you how to. You would be surprised how many things companies do for the public because they get a tax break! And talking about tax break, save ALL your receipts because come April 15, you may be able to get some money back from uncle Sam depending on how much you spent. Oh, and by all means, please ignore the ignorant replies about "begging". You should be proud of yourself for getting back on your feet and for being responsible to try to take care of yourself by all means... don't lose faith. Knock on all doors you may have to, church, social workers, etc... but make sure your needs are being heard. You are a human being and you deserve help!!! Best of luck.

Ask at your doctor's office about programs. You can look at the drug manufacturer's website, but your doctor's office would probably help more because they have to deal with this a lot.

If you don't make your medication a priority, you probably will have a really hard time. See if your doc can give you samples until you work something out.

I agree with the other poster about checking with the manufacturer of your medications as most of them do have patient assistance programs to help pay for the meds.

I was lucky enough to find a doctor who gives me samples of most of my meds - otherwise I would be in some serious trouble without them.

Check with the pharmaceutical companies many of them offer programs to help people who can not afford their medications. You should also talk to your doctor to see if they can help you with samples or look to changing you to a less expensive medication

That's sad, I'm sorry. I know even with a job times can be difficult. Especially when you need medication.

Surely your doctor can help you find a program to help. Or, maybe he could prescribe a less expensive medication.

You're lucky it's only $100. For your stress and anger, try beating the crap out of a tree or post with one of those long, noodle-like float toys. (But do it in private or the white-coats will get you.)
