To make things easy, if the program creates shortcut on the desktop or so, then right-click on the shortcut, then choose "find target".
This will take you to the directory of the files you want to crack (well, normally), then copy the crack in the same folder of the program and run it...
PS: Some cracks include spyware, malware, tojans...so, don't trust all of them...
Also, if you download them from sites, note that some sites activate scripts on your PC that harms it -trojans, etc.
NOTE: the usage of cracks is illegal, unless you owe a genuine copy of the program you are cracking / patching.

This is a simple thing. What you have to do is just follow the instructions. Installation directory means the directory you installed the application. For example if application is XXX, then the directory is C:\Program Files\XXX Then copy the crack file to that location and run the application as usual.
The application means the crack file not the software called XXX

Geez, merely purchase a actual replica! Pirated copies of video games have all sorts of diverse subject matters like that, and by technique of pirating it instead of shopping for it you're finally hurting the hardworking builders that placed all of their attempt and time into it.

Most cracks control virus and/or control programs. If you don't know what you are doing and how to protect your system, you really should not be playing with fire.
