My male corgi is loveable and energetic. He likes to (try) chase bunnies during our daily walks. We are adopting two kittens, one male, one female, from an animal rescue. What should I do to socialize them?

A little salt, maybe a dash of garlic powder.

The kittens will be fine. And your dog is still a pup yet. I wouldn't worry to much about either one. However, if your dog doesn't setle down after the first couple of weeks around the kittens, I would consider having the kittens declawed if your going to raise them as indoor cats. Though I don't recomend this unless it's absolutely necessary. Our Cockapoos used to chase everything to but they left the family cat alone. Our new dog is almost 3 now but he leaves the cats alone when we go visiting. Even though he tries to chase all the neibourhood animals. We just leave him on his leash for awile until he calms down. Then we let him go. If he chases the cats, we put him back on the leash. He doesn't like this, so he usually behaves after he's been let off the leash the second time.

The kittens will be fine, they will accept your dog.

Now your problem will be with your dog, you will have to teach him. Take my advise as I have done this before myself, both ways, older dog/kitten, older cat/puppy. Teach your dog right from the beginning, do not let him chase and play with the kittens, at the start he may be in control, but as the kittens age a bit, their claws can inflict terrible damage to a dog and he may end up the worse for wear, scratching of his eyes will be something to watch and be careful of, that is why I say don't let him chase and play. Make him sit, watch but no touchy!!!

Him and the cats could well end up being great friends if you set the boundaries now.
Good luck. If you want any more advise or help visit my forum and post a question.

Keep the dog on a leash till he calms down and make sure the kittens have a high place to jump because they feel safer higher up and hte dog cant get at them.

See if you can take the kittens fro trial first and before you put the added stess of a dog on them give them there own room for a few days to get used to you

I have two dogs and they have been around all different animals. When you get your kittens don't act jumpy or protective that makes the dog want them more.Act like the kittens are no big deal sett them don't like there suppose to be there. If your dogs tail is wagging your fine if your dog is really drooling alot from nerves than you have a little breaking in to do.Just don't act jumpy nervous or over protective the dog only reacts from the owners reactions.Good luck

I not at all relatively had this concern, I had a woman, and he or she grow to be, nicely, much less complicated than this besides. yet i visit grant some advice, in case you go with it. shop him indoors for a pair weeks. enable him run around with or without clothing on, regardless of he prefers. If he has a BM on the floor, enlist his help in cleansing it up. do no longer placed it him on a guilt holiday on something, only make it sparkling that each and every time he poops on the floor, he will help sparkling it up. provide lavish compliment for any time that he makes use of the potty. If mandatory, call up your husband at artwork and characteristic him compliment your son too. do no longer complication approximately potty training in one day. with a bit of luck in a pair weeks the placement will advance. It feels like he only needs to be on top of issues of the placement. so which you could make it greater appealing for him to do what you go with him to do, without putting any greater desirable rigidity on him. good success! And sure, sometime he would be knowledgeable, he won't nevertheless be pooping on the floor in college or something.

Well he is a bit older so just hold the kittens for him to smell. I think you would have to be careful until he knows they are your pets and not something to hunt
