Not really , any one of any age can build lean muscle. It takes dedication to a balanced diet and regular exercise, at least four times a week. There are tons of exercises you can do at home with a few dumbbells, a basic flat bench and some proper instruction. Proper form is essential to avoid injury and get great results. A few lessons from a qualified pro will give you all the basic stuff to get you started. Also try your library for books on body building .Let me warn you to keep it simple or you will get burned out. Weight training is great for strengthening bones as well as muscle. Good Luck, Oh and don't do your reps to quickly it is much more effective to slow down, that way your muscle does all the work rather than momentum. Shelley's Fitness.

Well, its easier because you are younger and full of energy, you don't have a full time job or the responsiblity of most adults. But some would argue you might be too young to start lifting seriously. It could stunt your growth. But lifting your own body weight and being active all day is a good start. If you were doing 1000 push-ups a day, 1000 sit-ups a day, running 3 miles a day you would be pretty strong and fit. Core body strength is important for any activity you do, and it is a good ground work for later if you want to really hit the weights.
