It's pretty easy... Why can't we all just get along?

Question

Okay. So I'm looking through Yahoo Answers today, and I'm completely amazed by what I see. An inordinate amount of questions are:

"Why are Liberals (Democrats) so dumb?"
"Why are Conservatives (Republicans) so ignorant?"
"Why are Muslims trying to kill us all?"
"Why are Christians stupid?"
"Why are Athiests so blind?"

Black, white, hispanic, gay, straight, etc... we all seem to hate someone.

Now... overlay these questions against what's taking place in North America, and the rest of the world.

Rampant bi-partisanship has brought the US to a virtual standstill from the days 40 years ago when it was developing so fast it was unstoppable, and made the world a BETTER place.

People are rabid about their religion being the one, true, 'peaceful' religion... and they'll beat the crap out of anyone who says otherwise... and as such world is on edge because various races, religions, creeds and colors have a hate-on for someone else.

So, again I ask... why can't we all just get along? I know it's human nature to be in conflict... but it's also human nature to survive... and man, we're heading in the wrong direction for that.

Now... I'm not Christian... or Athiest... or Democrat... or Republican. I'm me. I live by a simple code (I say I follow the church of Bill and Ted): Be Excellent to each other. Christians know it as 'Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.' and I can almost guarantee that most othe religions have a similar tenet somewhere in it's teachings. Respect and acceptance...

This is NOT a difficult thing to follow... can someone tell me why we can't? Or won't?

I have to say, Carol... your answer is exactly what I was talking about. You're a person who claims to be Christian... starts your answer out by calling me stupid... and quoting the Bible. Jesus preached tolerance, acceptance and peace... I think you need to rethink your morals, because YOU'RE one of the people that I'm talking about.

Simple, because I'm right and you're not.

Seriously that is why we can't get along. Humans tend to think that whatever their individual characteristerics or beliefs, are the norm.

What's really interesting is that as individuals we have the capacity to understand, tolerate and exist with other individuals who are drastically different. However, in groups, (Christian, black, straight, etc...)we somehow dumb down and lose this ability.

In groups people lose their maturity and self growth that they have gained through life and revert back to pre-adolescent behavior. I guess this is the mob mentality we here people speak about.

To get to a succint answer to your question. I think individuals can get along. But people never will.

I think it's because most people have a superiority complex about their beleifs, principles and the overall way they live their life. That tends to irritate the hell out of other people with superiority complexes that feel the same way about their own set of principles and beleifs. Conflict ensues. I think there are also those who are neutral, no matter what they beleive, but they just get annoyed when other peoples rights and beleifs are criticized and condemned by others. I fall into that category.

People should be free to find their own spirituality, whether it's within a religion or not. It makes me sick to hear that people who practice Wiccan faith don't have their rights respected in our Military and by our president, and in general, are referred to as "devil worshppers" by uneducated people who don't understand their religion.

I personally (as a female) don't understand Islam, although I have indeed tried, having spent substantial time in Muslim countries. However, not every Muslim is a terrorist, or should be held suspect just because they are boarding a plane and they are wearing a turban or have their head and face veiled. I disagree with many principles of that faith, BUT, I don't belittle them for what they beleive. If it makes them happy and they are in peace, good for them. Who is to belittle that?

I think God is peace. God is the "one truth". God is Love. Honestly, how has anyone discovered God if they are fighting wars and killing innocents? It's no double edged sword at all. It's just people and their desire to push their ways and beleifs on others.

I don't even understand the whole race thing. We are all Humans. It baffles me how people can claim their race is superior to another. Really? Don't we all have a heart? Don't we all walk upright? Don't we all breathe air? Don't we all feel pain and joy? Don't we all mourn our dead? Don't we all give birth? Don't we all get sick in our lives? Regardless of what color flesh our soul is encased in? I just don't get it.

Carol you said a mouth full of truth what has righteousness have to to with unrighteousness. there afar apart as one can get on earth Muslims say kill America and Israel i pray for a change of heart for them but their not going to change the Quran for anybody so were going to have to live to the best of our abilities not trusting anyone behind us it's time to bare arms to protect our selves .I know that is opposite of what Jesus said but its hard to watch someone kill your family without getting to kill them also

simple they want to dominate others. such as one race or realigoin want to be # one they believe they are number one becouse of there color or sucess in the history before, in the race catogary in the religion catogory they want to be the domanant becouse they belive the are the true and only relogoin in the world about the saying of GOD and the meaning of the world.
