Hello dear, unfortunately we live in the era of expansion of cancer (which of course, could affect quite every part of our body) and spreading to stunning extent virusological diseases, from them the first place is for AIDS. The statistic is awful, every one minute whole ten persons become HIV positive. Yes, the Ebola virus is deadly and yet not to such extent spread and as far as I know there is progress in finding some cure for it..Then we should not forget the 21 century most common and again tough to handle diseases, the Depression ( every 5th suffer from it) and the allergies. Good question.

Obviously different people have different definitions of the word you chose ("deadly"). Whatever disease causes someone to die would be the most "deadly" to them.
Are you speaking in terms of public health, rapidity, sheer numbers? What culture are you interested in? Western (modern world) would be different than much of the third world. The geography would matter also.
And don't forget rabies, there has been but one single survivor of rabies, and she has some mental impairment.
Ignorance and mental health would be my top contenders.

Dead is dead. Heart disease kills the most in the US, followed by cancer, and stroke. But for younger males, accidents are the #1 killer. So you have to look at the age, gender, and family History to determine your greatest risk from dying.

As far as banzai_4, told you, don't pay attention to him, I think he is a disgruntled med school drop out.
Don't worry about which disease kills the most people worry about the cars !
Over 300,000 people are seriously injured or killed each year in accidents. Yet no one even thinks about that when they jump in the car and take off somewhere.
Infact cars kill more people than guns but you don't hear anyone trying to ban cars...
So over all don't worry be happy...

Being alive. It is universally fatal, although the length of time it takes to die varies considerably from person to person.
After that, the staph aureus (MRSA) infection that eats your body away from the inside.
Ebola, human bird flu and similar viruses are next.

I think it is Leapers. Leapers is a disease that people have suffered badly from mainly in the middle east. It is where all your skin starts to become dead and fall off. Also, all your skin all over your body becomes horribly blotchy. Don't worry it is a disease that is suffered from in the developing countries.

1. Ebola (it kills too quickly and in a disgusting way)
2. Cancer (you'll have to think of dying all the time)
3. HIV/AIDS (no medicine)

Chris is right.
The Ebola virus will put you down hard, fast, and ugly. It's got an incubation period of a couple of weeks, then wham, bam, thank you, ma'am.
